Help Support 4GTuner:

On my Vr4
I put in 5 L

get back around 3.75 litres.
After around 5-6000 k
I shit myself when i first seen it.

Must be the norm.My engine is good..low k ,no blowby etc...

Have you taken it back to where it got rebuilt yet??

Or even got a second opinion?

You dont need any major noises to tell you that there's something not right when your engine thats just been run in is using 500ml of oil a week!!!!!!

Have you checked your oil lines to/from your turbo??

rebuilder has check everything only time i can see anything wrong is when i put my foot down when the boost comes on and smoke flies out the exhaust?? but rebuilder said it is normal for a 4g63 to use oil??

Sounds like you need to get a second opinion from somewhere else dude!

500ml per week? Thats not right, even my shitbox magna doesnt use that much, probably about 500ml every 2 or 3 months!!

Sounds like the exhaust seal on the turbo has called it quits. Is the turbo new or reco'd? If you have oil in your dump pipe but not in you exhaust manifold then its time for a new turbo.

ok i'll get second opinion!!!! hopefully find something soon
im using gtx 3as the oil in the car and the turbo is new as well

Yeah man that oil is OK and wont burn away that quick. Unbolt your exhaust maniold and turbo off the car in order to check where the oil is coming from. Yeah I know some of you will say that it burns away but if its losing that much oil it still would be evident inside. The aim is to check if there are traces of oil before the turbo (in the manifold) or after the turbo (in the dump pipe) if you catch my drift. There my friend will be your answer and you can kick whosever @ss is responsible for the problem

The stupidest thing ive heard yet...well,almost..

"Its normal for you to use a bit of oil"

Yeah ok its "normal" to use a bit,but its not normal or acceptable to burn a bit, especially just aftera rebuild.

The problem u describe is blowby by the sound of it,if you are burning oil(blue/Gray) smoke on acceleration I would say it is possible the cross honing on the bore isnt correct, therefore rings dont bed in,bores glaze, problem continues etc..

Dont worry,im not trying to scare you,its just one possibility, and a minor one at that if the guy knows what he is doing.Ask him if he cross honed the bores at 45 degrees,if he's a half decent bloke,he wont mind you asking that, its not like your trying to undermine his experience.

But...

Its usually always the simplest thing,Check the PCV Valve to,as someone else said, check the inlet pipe to your turbo,if theres oil in here,at least you know where its coming from then

All checked, no blow by, no oil in the exhaust, honed correctly, no oil leaks, new head, new turbo, new pistons and rings, new block, new bearings etc etc, never said it was normal to consume oil, just asked to drive longer than 1000kms this time, looks like we may have to pull it down again and see what we find ??? as your plates say mate from day one your car has be Jinxed !!!! not just with us !!! :D
Happy for second opinions as I would love someone to tell us what is wrong with this car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
