Hey all,

I'm trying to determine what ECU I have. I've tried getting under the passenger side dash to get a look at the #'s, but it's proving extremely difficult due to the roll cage that goes through the dash blocking my view.

What I can see is: A gold box. Is that any sort of indicator what type of ECU I might be running? Stock evo 1 ecu, MINEs, etc?

Many thanks. if I can, I'll really try to pull things apart and get in their for #'s.

there should be a 10mm hex head bolt holding it to the body work and a earth lead once these two have been removed get a 5mm wide flat srcew driver and carefully push in the lock in clips which hold the plugs locked into the ecu push the clips down and grab the wire attached to that plug and give a little yank do all three and remove the ecu.
when its out remove the 4 philips(star) screws from both sides 2 a side and remove the cover take pics of the covers factory decals and the board post them up and it will be easy to tell from there.

Good luck

Ok, I wasn't able to remove the ECU without exensively taking things apart due to my roll cage and rally floor plates. I was however able to barely peek in and take some numbers off of the gold case.

On the top of the ECU case it read:

MD187701
E2T38381

On the side I could read:

7701 (in big #'s)
136..... E2T38381

Also, I saw a sticker that looked to be wrapped around the edge. I could make out the first two letters and it was: "Mi......"

That leads me to believe it was a "Mines" sticker? The M was sort of in an italic font.

Anywho, if anyone could help me determine what ECU this is I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Anyone able to confirm? My snaking suspicion is that it's a Mines ECU based on the sticker, part of which I could see started with "Mi____"

I cant force you to remove it and find out for yourself
looking at the exterior there's no way to tell

Ah ok, that answers my question then :). Thanks. When I get a chance to pull the dash out I'll do that.
