Hey all
I am new to GSR's
I just purchased a white 94 CC GSR from NSW
has a pile of go fast bits on it

I am from Narangba QLD (30 mins north of Brisbane)

sadly after driving it back from Sydney to Brisbane .. i gave it a squirt and it developed a noise.

then the next day I gave it another squirt to try and diagnose the problem and it threw a rod out the block beside the oil filter by overboosting to 26.4psi !!

it had been completely tuned to run 20psi with no dramas (the previous owner had driven it that way for ages with no drama and it worked fine)

needless to say when I refit a new motor it will be turned DOOOOWWWNNN to 16psi or there abouts

has a clunk from the front end I think is a control arm bush by what I've read on here.

some of the mods include a Evo 3 bodykit and bonnet, Evo 3 turbo, Haltech E6X, 700cc injectors, 500hp walbro fuel pump, turbosmart V port BOV, koni adjustable shocks and lovell springs, adjustable camber pins and a set of front and rear sway bars and strut braces
17" Rays Ggame wheels

Fingers crossed everything goes well with the engine replacement and I look forward to meeting a few of you on the road
here is a couple pics

cool haha
can we do those stuffed bushes our self?
i suppose id need a wheel alignment afterwards??
cant wait to get this thing back on the road and rego'd

Welcome mate.
Looks clean.
Shame about the bottom end failure.
You dont mention forged internals on the old motor, and on a stock 93t, 20psi is asking for trouble as is! Whoever told you that was safe has severely mislead you.
Anyways, enjoy the forum, heaps of info for an engine conversion on here.

20 psi on stock rods, no wonder it wasn't happy.
I'm around the corner in Joyner if you need a hand with anything (like throwing the chrome wheels in at Young's Crossing :p).

yeah aa well re: rods

The wheels are 17" Rays G-Game 77f's so I dont think they are heavy chromies.. they arnt chrome more of a polished alloy with a clear coat(can see some of it has gone wierd from the brake dust etc as they do..)

Look forward to meeting some of you folks!

semi slicks.. wouldnt you want a slightly larger wheel than 15s for better handling on the street?

thought the 17s would be just about right size??

Secrets to handling:
Performance orientated wheel alignment
Reduce unsprung weight (say no to 17's!) and the weight of the car
Really good quality shocks valved to suit the springs (not D2/G4/BC crap)
Springs to suit the shocks and ride height you want
Other sway bar, camber, castor mods
Tyres, tyres, tyres, tyres, tyres.

Pretty simple really. I'm guessing you still have the standard GSR brakes too? If so, look at upgrading them to the twin spot callipers and bigger rotors as they offer a much better selection of performance brake pads.

Rob, I weighed my 18's with tyres vs a 15 with tyre and the 18 was lighter by nearly a kg.

It depends on the construction of the wheel. Cheapass 17/18's will weigh more than a 15, but a good quality one will weigh less. Of course we're not factoring in wantanabe's here, but if you put them on your car you have no concept of style and should wear moccasins anyway. The tyre is by and large far heavier than the actual wheel. Also going by volume/kg, the 18 has less compressed air in it than the 15 which also reduces weight.

Although I agree with the rest, except BC's aren't garbage anymore. d2's, g4's etc are though.
