Rob, I weighed my 18's with tyres vs a 15 with tyre and the 18 was lighter by nearly a kg.
Measuring the static weight is fine, but look where the weight is inrelation to the centre of the wheel. It's further away due to the diameter of the wheel. I can't remember the technical term for that (rotational mass?, centrifical mass?).
Anyway, I am constantly surprised at how much heavier semislicks are compared to street tyres, that's why I prefer to use smaller wheels when using semis.

Of course we're not factoring in wantanabe's here, but if you put them on your car you have no concept of style and should wear moccasins anyway.
Are cheap knock offs ok though? :p

the 18 has less compressed air in it than the 15 which also reduces weight.
Now you're getting picky. the extra weight of that air could easily be compensated for by some blue anodised wanker nuts!

Although I agree with the rest, except BC's aren't garbage anymore. d2's, g4's etc are though.
Fair call, I haven't driven a vr4 with them in yet so maybe I shouldn't have included them in that pack, but I am also now totally ruined when it comes to suspension now due to the MCA gear I put on my rally car.

Interesting radiator setup? Certainly not a mitsi fit one but it is a lot thicker. Does it have a thermo fan on the front?

Well I am getting the new motor as of Friday night/saturday morning then I just have to swap them over..
the fun part will be dissassembling the whole kit and kaboodle to do the swap.. is there a guide anywhere to the quick way to remove and replace said motor??

cheers

Step 1 - drink beer.
Step 2 - tell mates to remove said motor.
Step 3 - have another beer and pat yourself on the back for your expert supervisory skills.
:w00t:

Are you going to replaced the timing belt etc on the new motor BEFORE you you put it in? It's much easier when the motor is out of the car.

well had some mates over today as well as Grant (347-dis) and ripped a fair bit off the motor thats still in the car...
finding more and more dodgy shenanigans goin on with the car ie wrong bolts or bolts that are not the same or done up fully etc etc...
all being ones you can't see easily

at the moment im wrestling with exhaust manifold bolts and the ones that hold the turbo to the manifold (that go in via the top of the manifold)

1 is long and bent out the other end against the exhaust housing of the turbo.
the other just wont budge..

least I know this time it will be fixed up properly...all be it on a very shoe string budget sadly...

yeah aa well re: rods

The wheels are 17" Rays G-Game 77f's so I dont think they are heavy chromies.. they arnt chrome more of a polished alloy with a clear coat(can see some of it has gone wierd from the brake dust etc as they do..)
Nothing some masking tape and a can of black can fix your rims
