Hey guys

Can anyone tell me if their is any tricks to reseting the hydraulic tensioner.. can i do it in a soft faced vise??

I pulled the belt off without locking up the tensioner first..

Cheers
Ben

chuck it in the vice baby, use a pin to lock it in place and then put it back on and pull the pin!

Yeah mate, slowly close it up in a vice. I use a small allen key to lock it down into position through the holes. Then bolt the tensioner onto the timing case, arrange the cam gears and belt into position, then do up the tensioner pulley. After the timing belt is set and tensioned turn the motor over a couple of times and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then come back and take the allen key out of the hydraulic tensioner making the pin come out. There should only be about 3.8-4.5mm of the tensioner poking out  .

just one thing my mechanic showd me was

when you close it in the vice do it slow and watch for any leaks

dont want this little peice making you do head rebuild due to cam belt coming loose
