Hylomar

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

i used it on my mls turbo gaskets but i'm using a composite HG which had it's own heat activated sealer so didn't use it on that

mls has hylomar on them, and some of you may not know coolant stops adheasion... you should run engine with water only to full operating temp for 15min or longer, then after let fully cool, then replace with coolant. what happens is, very tiny amounts of coolant seep into the tiny machining grooves and get trapped... causing a section the hylomar dosent melt into, thus giving a path for easier escape of combustion gasses

I used hylomar Ted, just make sure you let it set like you would silicone before you put your head bolts in. 5 minutes or so till it gets tacky then assemble

I use hylomar religously on all engine builds where gaskets are used, oil pump case cover, waterpump, oil cooler etc. Even on mls headgaskets. Spray a niice even fine coat, wait til it gets tacky then assemble. Hasnt ever let me down on any of the builds and its easy to clean off. You could use copperspray as per old schoolers do but its very hard to cleanoff. Best stick with Hylomar.
