people are using "2g" trannys in the us on their vr4s... just wondering if i can just bolt up an evo box

not sure what the **** happened to my gearbox, but its not nice to drive anymore

i think it depends on the gear ratio... has to match the ratio in the diff, i think???
i really don't know!
whats wrong with the box you have now? i thought mine was a bit rooted until i got the clutch changed, now it's beautiful! :)

wont change gears when idling, i have to bring the revs up it to get it into gear
reverse crunches all the time

i thought it could've been my synchros, but i guess its got more to do with the clutch not disengaging fully

this is how mine was:
hard to get into first when stationary, rough shifting into second once moving, crunching noises when selecting reverse.
changed the clutch and all is sweet!

Hey mine crunches going into reverse as well... but all the other gears are cool. Hmm.. I have a new clutch, so this could possible be a setup issue?

its because there is no synchro in reverse and reverse is a straight cut...Or at least that would be my guess. "Crunches" is kinda vague.

shouldnt crunch with the clutch in

Reverse has no syncros- crunching is inevitable.

Tharaka- when was the last time you changed your g/box oil??

All cars do that enteran. Again i point to the straight cut, also why reverse has a whine to it.

I'm aware. But most people don' tknow about the 2nd -> reverse thing. 4th reverse works someitmes too.

I -never- crunch into reverse thanks to this.

i dont think i do it right. Got taught that when i first learnt to drive but it has always been a hit and miss affair for me :S

wouldn't have a clue......

i guess i'll have to do it soon

Could be a good idea. There was an "Xtreme" clutch installed by the previous owner of my car, which wouldnt let me get good slaps (crunching), and it would crunch for the first 10 mins whilst cold. Some revised g/box fluid helped the crunching while cold but I still couldnt get the quick gear changes in any gear. A new exedy clutch fixed this, and totally changed the way my car drives now. Its great.

get some good motul gear oil in there mate
also bleed your clutch line

i betcha your tranny fluid needs replacing

i mean, when i drove it it was decent!

maybe you have too much POWER!!

=)

and the reverse thing is normal, my rebuilt box does it also if the revs are up
