I had them supplied by VPW and asked for them to come with the right extensions so they would be a direct fit to my TC Gallant/VR4 head and rail. Had a call from my dyno tuner who said that they were too long and wouldn't let the rail tighten down on the head/rail locating spacers. was told the injectors were app 5-6 mm too long for this to happen .
Called VPW who told me they supplied the short extensions . Has anyone had this problem and what is the fix???
BTW the car is at Chapmans in Cooroy a couple of hours away from home. FWIW Rob tunes Murray and Josh Cootes WTC S13 and Josh's drift cars as well as driving his off road Mitsis.

yep just space out the rail, there is no issue doing that, I have done it on mine
Thanks Doug/Khubner1 That's exactly what I intend to do along with some slightly longer bolts.
No one I had asked about fitting the 1000's mentioned that this would have to be done so guess I'm still learning :( :)

The main problem turned out to be that the stock injectors have a top squash O ring that the rail bears down on when the rail bolts are tightened and the extension pieces take up the space that the squash rings did and won't allow the rail to be tightened up to the spacers so the rail to head spacers need to be shimmed/packed app 5mm.
Another thing is that when the USCAR/BOSCH adapters can't be fitted due to space so had/decided to get another harness made.
This has been a frustrating exercise due in part to information given to me by people/experts in the industry who should know better.
Hope this all makes sense ??

I got mine from FIC in the states. Correct adapters fitted and they bolted right in with no issues.
Live and learn I guess.
Into a stock factory head & rail?? no packing needed ??.
I sourced another set of the shortest adapters from Automotive Service Solutions/Petroject that were made from different materials with the same result .

Yes, look up FIC on google and click on the DSM section in injectors.

.
Forgot about you Tim .Silly me will call you nxt time I need info from the horses mouth and not the other end

Well the dramas continued and after solving the fitting problems they didn't want to flow as much as the old injectors and ended up refitting the old 650's and ended up with 387 HP ATW on 19 psi @ 6200 rpm with 1500 lbs tractive effort @ 5200 trailing off to1200 @7000.

Good result after all the dramas and character building.

Big thanks go to Rob Chapman for his efforts
