No, the vr4 ones have much smaller holes in the top of them and they get clogged up if the oil isn't changed frequently. The later generation ones above fit perfectly and are the same size (many people have done the upgrade both here and in the US), and due to the larger hole, don't have the "ticking" problem you are experiencing.

But, it would pay to let one of us other Brissy guys have a listen just to make sure it is the lifters. And check your oil level too in case it's gotten a bit too low and your lifters are just politely letting you know.

That makes sense. I rather be sure then buying something I don't need. Anyone near my area :Dsouth side Brisbane, near Runcorn I'll be happy to drive to your place if you can check it out for me :)

I remember when I put the engine in and filled up the fluids it took a full bottle of oil but it was bone empty. I did check it a month ago.. it was half full.

I'll be busy till Sunday, I'm leaving for Sydney on Sunday also for work, I think I'm coming back on Wednesday... well I hope I am!

Probably best some time after that.

cheers mate

I wont be going to Sydney now, some else is. So I'm pretty much free. Saturday & Friday I'll be busy.

Since brisvr4 is just around the corner, I'll see you :p Let us know when your free.

Thanks :D

Would the ticking sound be from injectors? It seems to gotta louder.. it just seems to be coming from them more.

The injectors do make a ticking sound, but their sound level remains fairly constant (doesn't change over time) and the standard injectors are fairly quiet (can't hear them with the bonnet shut).
If it's the lifters, they seem to make more of a "clacking" sound whereas the injectors are a high pitched "tick". Find a long solid metal rod (socket extension bar, long handled screw driver etc) and use it as like a stethoscope, place one end on the injector body and the other near your ear. You will clearly be able to hear the injectors then and be able to determine whether they are the clicking sound you mentioned.

that's what i've done :D

Te injectors is making the same sound but different pitch. I can here the excate sound more from the rocker cover screws but more towards the screws where the cams are.

Is it a lot louder when you start the car up from a cold start and then sort of gets quieter after a few seconds?
Is your oil level at the full mark on the dipstick (when the engines cold)?

im not sure bout the loudest when its cold or hot.. but sometimes its that loud that you can hear it from the inside.

i checked the oil level and its bout 3mm above the low mark

If "ISC" is stuffed; would it cause engine to cut out when at lights, as well as stall randomly when drop in neutral, and cold idle low and shit at about 500-700 rpm??? Is problems mine's just developed after replacing DSM Link with a Meek chip.

It sorta changed its behavior one night it didn't stall at all nor problems with idle. Cold starts are fine.. just when it gets warm say after 10-15mins driving normal. After a long drive (coast) it really shits itself with the fuel pump whining like a bitch :p

Just check the ISC with a multimeter to find out whether it's stuffed or not.

That 's not good!
I had a mate come over with his DC5R Integra, he whinged that it wasn't running properly. He drives it like a madman too. He also told me that it had been 20,000 km's since it had been serviced.
I checked the oil and it didn't even touch the stick!
I was about to slap him in the chops! :p

 You should have flogged him with the dip stick, that way he might remember what it's for.

ok.. i have checked the isc, with a meter and they all read 32ohms which is right from vfaq, i also did a 6 volt battery thing test and isc works too.

Has Tim paid you a visit yet? He has magic fingers when it comes to things like this........e.g crankshaft pulleys that aren't seated properly.....
