Ok..........

Its been 12 months since I sold my Aspec. The wife and I have settled into a regular home loan repayment routine and my wife said the magic words to me last week...... "maybe we should get you a newer car at the end of the year"......

So I'll give 3 guess what car I have in mind, and the first 2 guesses dont count. Another VR4 !! I got fairly scorched with my Aspec, the previous told me this and that was done to it and none of it turned out to be true.

VR4s are going for anything from 8-12k at the moment. This time round I think I would rather a Jspec. Mainly because its already sporting a bigger intercooler.

The question I put forth is this. Assuming I spend 8-10k on good std example of a Jspec, what is everyone ideas on mechancial mods you would do with 5k. Bearing in mind ill be happy with 14psi boost so as long as the std turbo is in good nick, ill stick with that......

Heres my thoughts -

Good exhaust. Nothing loud, just a good growl with good flow.
Clutch. Something compatable for everyday use.
ECU. Wolf ECU or Autronic.....
Intake. I had a cold air intake on my Aspec and it was ace.

I should add that Im not chasing huge power figures. or super low 1/4 mile times. I just want to be able to drive it to work everyday and have enough go to have some fun.

Ive already budgeted for decent rims, rubber and suspension. So essentially 5k is just to make sure it runs reliably and well.

Ive been off the boards for sometime and did next no extra mods to my Aspec when I had it. I dont want to buy an VR4 that is moded. After my last experience with that, I would feel a lot better buying a std one that I know is in good nick to start with and going from there...

Cheers guys.....

5 grand should get u an exhaust, wolf ecu, 550cc injectors, walbro, clutch and flywheel...

with a jap spec cooler, that should keep you pretty happy for a while!

i'd probably expect around the 160kw atw with that kind of setup

Jamie (oscar) got 235 @ wheels using wolf v500, injectors and an e3 turbo.

Exhaust and intake obviously too.

My first port of call would be a CAI, exhaust and a wolf v500. Go from there.

Save the 5k and spend that on top of the purchase price to get one hell of a VR4.

Done like the man but he has a point LoL

5k soundx like it will get you a pretty shitty car...one which will cost double to fix.

Spend more save in long run

The plan is this.......

8-10 on the car
5 on the engine mods
5 on suspension, wheels and tyres

I want dont want to buy an already moded VR4. I did that last time and get screwed. So this time round I want to do all the mods myself and make sure they are done right first time.

Like I said, I'm not chasing any particular power figure or quarter mile time. I just loved driving my aspec and the mods that I listed seem like the best I could think of that would net the most useable power that is controllable with out breaking parts.

Anyways, keep the suggestions and tips coming....

As for coilovers, im pretty keen for the Tien HA with the edfc. I know its costly but well worth the cost..

Cheers guys

Chris
