Ignition leads sizing

Hi guys,
My car was using 7.0mm Eagle leads without any previous drama, but I called up Eagle Leads and placed an order for a new set of 8.0mm leads, 15mins later they gave me a call back saying that they can't do them in 8.0mm :?

I'm sure Top Gun and Magnacore do make them in 8.0mm but i was just wondering does the lead thickness make's much of a difference?

As far as i'm aware, past 8.8mm the rest of the lead is just insulation. I just use NGK leads, they seem to work fine

correct, past 8.8mm they are just extra insulation, i use the NGK leads as well, and have no problems with them
