Hey Everybody.

I had a mechanic try to fit an intank Wahlbro fuel pump into my CE Lancer today and it didn't fit.
Autobarn told me it would be ok and would be a straight fit.

Has anyone else tried this or have they used something different that was a straight fit??

Any help would be great.

The mechanic made the cradle longer so the pump & filter would fit but when it was put into the tank the entire cradle wouldn't fit.

He tried a few different options with the filter but I don't know if it was the wrong way in the cradle.

How do you tell??

It definately didnt' fit into the standard craddle and without putting a dent into the bottom of the tank or turning the pump on it's side it isn't ever going to fit.

Do you know whether extrnal fuel pumps are legal on road cars??

ive actually heard of this one recently, but dont actually know the full solution...

do you know if you have a CE1 or a CE2...

there is a slight possibility that there is a slight difference in the fuel tanks as i know of people whom have used the 342 as a diffect fit in ce's...

I have a CE1 and it is a brand new fuel tank as the baffles fell apart in the old one.

I have been to a couple of places and they have all said that the GSS342 is a straight fit. It is also the same size as a standard replacement pump which is now confussing me.

I am going to the mechanic again tomorrow to see if we can come up with any ideas.

take a hammer and a screwdriver...

To be honest Missile,

Thats what we have come up with and have bent the craddle slightly so the filter is on an angle but still very close to the bottom of the tank.

It seems strange that all the performance places I have spoken to in SA have never had this problem, but can't actually remeber fitting one.

Lots of fun.
