Hay all.

Just need to know if my genuine EVO 3 motor harness will work on a vr4 63t motor ??

Cheers...

If you use the 7 bolt cas...it will plug in. VR 4 wont as plug is different.

the coils are in a different spot....might be able to extend the evo wiring

I "think" the TPS has a different plug...so use an evo throttle body.

the evo 6 uses a 4 plug setup however 3 of those 4 are the same as the early evo and all the required pins are on those 3 plugs

What the??? lol

Ive got a EVO 3 motor harness on my VR4 6-bolt motor.
Brian is correct. There is fuk all difference in engine electrics between the EVO and GVR4 motors. What doesn't suit on the GVR4 motor, swap it out for a EVO item.
Therefore:
* Just change the Japspec GVR4 crank angle sensor for an EVO unit. e.g. Japspec GVR4 CAS wont have a plug on top of the CAS like an EVO or Auspec GVR4 do. The Japspec GVR4 engines have a lead coming out from the bottom of the CAS to a triangle black plug. Piss that CAS off and chck an EVO CAS in.
* GVR4 throttle body uses a throttle close switch and has a bolt on elbow. You dont want to use it anyway. Use an EVO throttle body and TPS setup instead.
* The temperature sensors around the thermostat housing are fine and able to be plugged in. You don't connect anything to the top sensor of the GVR4 thermostat housing cover.
* Not 100% sure on the coil pack situation, but it'll be piss easy to use a bolt in GSR or EVO coil pack. Or make the GVR4 coils plug to suit the EVO harness = easy. Just don't get the wires mixed up. Write it down on a piece of paper before you change the plug.
* If you have aircon, use an EVO aircon compressor not a GVR4 aircon compressor.
Thats it.

Engine wise, the EVO engine loom is no problem to fit the GVR4 engine as described above.
But, you will have other discrepancies in the EVO engine harness when trying to adapt it to suit your GSR.

i.e. what interior dash loom are you using? GSR or EVO?
Are you going to keep aircon? Will you be using EVO climate control? or keep the factory GSR aircon controls?
Do you want to use EVO fold away mirrors?
The 6-pin plug near the drivers side strut tower for radiator fans etc is different and the EVO plug wont plug into the GSR plug. It has a different wiring setup too.

If ease of install is what you want to put a 4G63 engine straight into a GSR without all the other EVO electrics, then get the wiring harness in the for sale section. The Evo 3 harness was modified to plug straight into a GSR to run a 4G63 engine. http://www.4gtuner.com/topic/23813-evo-3-4g63t-motor-harness-modded-for-a-gsr-price-drop/#entry299910 . For $120 its a godsend for a GSR owner!!

Note that you wont be able to run EVO climate control with that modified harness.
But normal aircon will work if you get an evo aircon compressor and hoses. Evo compressor only has one wire on it.

Don't cut up your genuine EVO 3 harness as it will make baby Jesus cry. Especially if for $120 someone has already done all the hard work for you to save any headfuks (depending what you want in your conversion of course).

@ EVO-OOX

Thanks heaps for all your imput ay.. Much appreciated...

Yeah that harness is mine that I'm selling...

Reason I asked this quesion is because Romeo is interested in my harness and asked me if it would work with the vr4 motor...

So Romeo there's your answer....

Cheers again ay...

P.S. yes a EVO harness was harmed in the making if this but only for the greater good... LoL... ie, so I could have a GSR motor harness for my car with other wise full EVO spec and so someone else could have a EVO motor harness for a GSR spec car... Win, Win....

So it is you who is selling the harness. Didn't notice that. Then slap Romeo in the back of the head and tell him YES IT WILL WORK.
Cant Romeo ask his own questions? lol
