Hi guys, got a new alpine head unit today (CDA-137EBT) and one of the wires i need to connect says to join it to the 'instrument cluster illumination lead'. My old head unit did not have this so there is no previous connection there and I havent got a clue what wire to use, I can't find anything in the workshop manuals about this illumination lead, does it exist on the CC GSR? I'm assuming it is used to dim the head unit when you turn on your headlights, so it's not really a big fuss if I can't connect it. Thanks for the help

It probably just wants a 12v signal to know when the lights are on like you say. I would look for a back illumination globe around the centre console and just splice it into the +12v of that.

Connect it to the green wire with the white stripe for the ash tray light!!. (sometimes even a cigarette lighter surround may be illuminated)
When you turn on your lights the ash tray lights up internally. You can get to it with the stereo out. Easy as
