Hey all, i have abit of a problem with the vr4, it is a aspec 90 vr4, with everything standard except exhaust and jspec fmic and piping.
I recently bought a bigger fmic and piping. I got everything i needed and was planning on swapping my battery and airbox around with a custom made intake pipe from afm to turbo at the same time.
Anyways i started yesterday and today i got everything on and after some really tuff work swapping the batterry and air box around, i made sure evrything was right including all hose plugged in etc.. i went to turn the key and i started normal at first, i let it warm up, and couldnt wait to take it up and down the street, so i let it roll down my drive way and when i accelarated the car was not moving, when i mean not moving i put it in 1st and then it went but there was no throttle response and it wouldnt rev past, say around 1300, which was barely enough to keep it from stalling.
So i chucked it back up the driveway without really getting anywhere(still the same, car not accelarating past 1300).
I double checked all the connections and hoses were plugged in and then started it again and this is where my headaches began. The vr4 started revving right to 4000rpm on idle so i quickly switched it off, again made sure everything is in place, then i turned it back on and still the same story, after about another half hour of trying to figure out and fix the problem, i really couldnt source the cause of this. It is really bad the car aint drive able and when on if i tap the accelerator the revs just keeps climbing.
Anyways after a day wasted i thought i should put it all back to normal and then re think where i went wrong, but after ive put it all together i still have the same problem BUT its not revving at 4000 its now at around 2500, even when i tap the accelator on idle the revs still keep climbing slowly then back down to 2500.
I really thought it would be a bolt on affair, but i was wrong.
Is there something ive overlooked or it might of been something i have done in the process of all this?
Also can the ecu somehow reset?
Im going to ring meek or my mechanic 2morrow and see if they can shed some light on the situation but for now it might be something simple or maybe something done wrong.
I really dont have a clue to what it could be and any ideas or help would be much appreciated

Are you 100% sure all hoses/wires are connected and theres no leaks?
Maybe you damaged the AFM?

Did you take off any hoses/loom plugs off solenoids and forget to put them back on?
Is Accel cable jammed somewhere?
Triple check all cooler hose conditions and clamp torque.

From the sounds of it, you may need to take it to a shop, trying to diagnose this over the net will take a while.

the honeycomb/sensors may get damaged.
perhaps the piping has a hole in it?
did you plug in the afm plug in properly?
does sound like one of the hoses isnt connected properly though

I have fixed the problem, it was a blockage in the throttle body(massive blockage due to my carelessness)
Anyways after 2days wasted my car is still the same as last week argghhh:)
Thanks for all the help and if it wasnt me being pointed in the direction of the throttle cable being stuck i would have alot more headaches figuring out what it was.
Thanks Andy

rag stuffed in the throttle body whilst you were working on it and forgotten about upon re-assembly? I've been there too

Hahaha very close, i actually sprayed the front mount and piping and one of the paper towels i used to block of the ends of one the piping fell through and got stuck inside where i must of not seen it, and when i started the car it sucked it up into the throttle body. I know better 4 next time now:)

it's actually an old trick to youse paper towels instead of rags because they are much less likely to do any damage if they go through the engine, the valves cut them when the close where a rag will hold it open.
