hey does anyone know if its betta to run vr4 factory piping and intercooler or aftermarket intercooler and piping? is there any diffs between these too set ups ? and if there kan be lag? and if you run a standard vr4 intercooler but with bigger inter piping ? any help will be great thanks

If you have the stock turbo i.e. a td05-14b, then the factory piping should be OK. If you go to a bigger turbo it should be enlarged. The factory inter-coolers are crap. The Aus spec is the worst. The jap spec is better, but still restrictive. The more volume that has to be filled the more lag you will have, but on aftermarket coolers it isn't much more and it's absolutely worth it for the gains you get. While you are there, if you haven't already, get rid of the bend just before the throttle body. That's a known spot for restriction.

I went from jspec cooler with 2.5 piping welded to tanks and meek 2.5 inch piping , to a apexi deltafin cooler 450*230*65 with same piping an the difference was very notable. The core size on jspec vs apexi is almost a third of the size. Bigger core =more flow which is easy power.

will a bar and plate intercooler 450*230*65 be same as delta fin? will there be any diffenere n power etc? or will be the same

cheers they have a bar and plate intercooler here but no delta fin ! does it matter what size intake pipe to turbo you run ? like 4inch intake pipe to a 14b turbo with silicone joiners and vr4 afm? or it doesnt matter?

It'd just be like using an FP/Bomz/Injen intake pipe. Although an 055 MAF would make it look a lot neater in the engine bay.

cheers can there be gains from shorter intercooler piping?
Why are you changing the intercooler? Is it for performance gains or for looks? If your after performance I would be upgrading other areas first, like upgrade your 14b to a 16g & a tune
