is anybody else sick of their car?

after not driving it for 5 months
i got it back last saturday

7500 gone on the engine rebuild, im just fucking sick of it

the car drives nice, i guess, but its just the little annoying things that keep pissing me off

the power windows dont work because of some loose connection on a relay and i need the power windows to work because i park underground for school and i need to get the parking tickets, it still doesn't fucking idle properly, the clutch shudders after the rebuild

i honestly thought after getting the car back and driving it, i'd fall in love with it. but i couldn't give a shit anymore

fuck i just needed to rant about this stupid piece of shit car

I LOVE my VR4, apart from usual maintance type things, and upgrades, hasn't cost me a cent
BEST car iv EVER owned (Well the old 4x4 was more fun :roll: but the body started to break :lol: )

Yeah i know where all you guys are coming from.
But you have to understand the all these "enhancements" we do wo our car will have an effect both way, good and bad. There is also the chain effect, i.e you get more power, you need more fuel. you get much more power you need bigger brakes.
You sit down and write what you have done to your car, then think about the lists that designers and engineers have to go thru to produce the car in its showroom condition. Then add to that list some cowboy who wants to strap a T4 to there perfectly balanced equation. Same goes for suspension, the chassis isn't designed to sit dumped on 20's?? or to corner at mach 5!!!
Yes the window motors are getting on, as are the air con units but that is the same as most cars of the vintage, so just go pick up some from Entran's Crazy Fire Sale (free bump) and get them replaced or fixed.
What it all comes down to is that felling when you sit in it all by yourself before you start it, when you ripping thru that familiar stretch of road late at night or when you glance at it on the right angle as it sits in you drive way. It all comes down to love.

well i know exactly what you guys are talking! for once lol..i blew a head gasket which i thought my next door neighbour fixed, alas i was wrong! so of it went to amberley auto, got the car back it was running fine all gaskets were fixed and there wasnt a problem..was driving down springvale road right next to 7/11 and i hear this loud ticking, the sound like a loose spark plub..so i pull over and pop the bonnet and pray to god that something else isnt wrong..i was! lol i ended up blowing a bearing in the bottom end becoz my car burnt all its oil..so off to amberley it went again! might i add this car has cost me over 5 grand in the last 6 months just fixing shit..so yeh you could say im over it.

I spent 14g's on the last vr4 fixing things left right and centre and barely got any mods done whatsoever.

I gave up and sold it.

4 months later I cried myself to sleep almost literally.

Now I have another.

The cycle begins again.

i feel your pain too mate, but you should be glad your car is running!

now get an ecu and tune the thing.. once your running 12's reliably, and beating the other cars around corners you'll have the biggest grin on your face..

it'll all be worth it in the end.. thats what i tell myself...

5months is nothing taco!!
mine was over 1 year for the motor!!

and yours would probably be built better! i gave him my torque plate to use and he would have learnt alot from building mine and jonny's motor..

the idle and window problem is easily fixed mate..

There's always teething problems, usually easy fixes that dont cost much so sort them out and enjoy

Im getting sick of it too,first the thing was overboosting,now it cutting out,then it started running on 3 cylinder a injector later it running again with only stock boost.Hopefully i can get it fix for the next cruise.My other car the Evo 2 which i have owned for 6 years, havent had a problem. ( Touch Wood).Now work that out.

i drove it to school tonight, and driving it is fun, ill admit that. even while running it in and driving sedatley, its still fun
just little things are getting to me, like the windows and idle and shit like that
i guess because last year i drove it every day to work, and now that i dont work anymore, i only really drive it 2-3 times a week.

i only just got 100km on the engine since i picked it up last week


once i get it tuned and start taking it back onto the track my mind will be changed pretty quickly

i think the vr4 is a better winter car than summer

although all through the summer i had an alfa 156 to drive 8) lol




engine wise
theres a huge list of shit
wiseco pistons, eagle rods, comp 101100 cams, cometic h/g, .20thou bored, head is slightly ported, intake and exhaust manifolds are port matched, block is all cleaned up, basically a whole new engine bay
