Is there any reason not to use synthetic dextron 3 ATF fluid rather than 'normal' dextron 3 ATF, in an old power steering system?
Im just wonding if its more suited to newer systems that have alot of use rather than my old vr4.
At work we have "valvoline max life, dextron 3" ATF.
Its on clearance so instead of being over 50 bucks for 5 litres its the same price as valvoline's standard dextron 3 (which id use anyway). It seems to be marketed at systems with alot of use as it talks about targeting wear, leaking seals, deposits, blah blah. Like all valvoline products do anyway. But would i be ok in a system like out old vr4's?
The vr4 manual calls for dextron 2 in the power steering, so dx3 will be fine. Its more they ''synthetic'' im looking at. Im thinking of using it only because its the same price now but was a much more expensive version of dx 3. Or is it probably just full of seal swelling additives?
Ive just thrown a second hand rack in. So filling and bleeding the system.
Might try calling their tech line, i looked on their web site but the ranges look different, probably why we are clearing it out.
