Seen some gab ones on eBay for under 600 but think they are only height and damper adjustable

I've had JIC's before on another car and cant complain other than they were outdated :lol: . The JIC's would have about a 15 way damper, 7/6 spring rates with camber tops and would definitely be out of warranty now. Just remember you are buying blind without certainty about the spring rates or what sort of history or how many kms the suspension has ran. ie were they ran in a competition car or a street car? rally car or a circuit car? are they a discontinued item? are they still repairable/maintainable with replacement parts? Those sorts of answers would be good to know before handing over large sums of money for 2nd hand suspension.

On the otherhand, you can buy brand new suspension with more features and warranty for not much more. For example, look at post number 296 on 11th May on this link: http://www.4gtuner.com/topic/10127-evo00x-evolved-awd-coupe/page__st__280 . I had narrowed a choice down to BC, DGR and GAB SS brands. I pretty much was looking for a decent set of coilovers under the $1500 price range and eventually ended up with BC's. The DGR's however, are excellent value for money at this point in time from one supplier in particular for only $800AU delivered!!! (see the link above in my thread).

Dude. Those JIC coilovers are mint. Saw them a few times when I pop in to see Steve from Advanced Jap. Almost brand new.

Wonder if would be any cheaper with bit of a group buy?

I have a set of BC ER's that I'm giving a go

about 1699 from memory 30 way bump and rebound adjustment, external canisters

the only problem I have found is the spring rates of 8kg is too high for normal street use, I have the adjustment to full soft on both and it is acceptable for street but very little travel

I think a 7/6 or even 6/5 would be better the dampening then could be used to fine tune the car better.

I have removed a set of Ohlins strut style shocks that were absolutly awesome, just reciently rebuilt and tuned so I'm using those as the benchmark.

havent got back on the track with the BC's but I'm very keen too, (due to work commitments)

I think there are lower grade BC that price is better also spring rates are lower too.
for a new set of cheap coil overs they are pretty good value and look the goods.

A full set of drummonds would be better but at over 1 gorilla a corner I think I would need to go pro!

to them about those same queries and they had no answers for me apart
from they were in very good condition which red 1 confirmed, for $750
i think they offer good value

I have D1 coil overs in mine got them off a member on here brand new as he never fitted them. When i was looking into them I spoke to a mate an this is what he told me: both him an his flat mate bought coilovers at the same time for their 180 an s13 one got BC one got D1 when they arrived they started comparing them they looked identical and they pulled one of each down and everything was the same apparently they share part numbers and the warranty address for them both was the same etc etc.
I never saw this with my own eyes so i'm only taking their word for it but the only difference they could find was the price BC = 1300 D1 = 900.
I got D1s cos i was poor an desperate for new shocks as mine were beyond rooted (i was getting sea sick while driving)
They are pretty good for the price IMO not too hard for the street (my wife is about to have our first baby an the ride doesn't bother her) an i've done a few track days on them an cant complain.
I think the biggest thing you need to look at is what your using the car for and buy the suspension to suit your application.
Only my opinion tho happy shopping

I didnt know Buddyclub D1's were made for EVO I-III, or are yours for a newer Evo with 3 strut top bolts?
You'd think they would have renamed them something other than D1's considering the bad rep that the brand D2's got :lol:

okay tracked down a topic on this already. okay front struts are fkd, and so are the strut tops so im looking at around 500 for new front suspension. Looking online atm i can get some brands or coil overs for under $900
