Hello peoples, i'm looking at flying over to Adelaide next tues/wed to check out a car that is in stock at Yahoo Motorsport, and i'm just checking with the Adelaide guys that have delt with him could let me know how easy his yard/place is to get to from the airport in Adelaide? How much would a taxi be?

Thanks,

dre

P.S there's a new project in the works :D

where is his yard again?

i think it's towards the docks.. royal park?

not too far man.. probably less than $10 depending on traffic

Taxi is about 12 dollars. Traffic doesn't really matter as it's all two lane roads.... or should I say you drive OUT of the airport, turn RIGHT, drive about 4-5km (over a set of train tracks) and the yards on the left of that road.

John himself likes to rush people so you don't get much time to think. He talks FAST and agrees with lots of things to make you feel comfortable. He'll give you the keys to the car and trade plates to drive it as much as you like... I took my vr4 for an HOUR. However none of the cars have much fuel, closest 95/98 octane fuel station is BACK down the road you go up to get there about 4 blocks. Plan to spend money on fuel for the car.

It's more than likely he'll jumpstart the car with his jump pack. make SURE Myou get this off him when you go for your test drive.

That particular car's paint is fairly screwed but there isn't any rust underneath it. It probably needs a respray reasonably badly (I've already looked at that car). But knowing you, it is going to end up white :p

I think it had really -old- recaro's for front seats IIRC. The kind with the mesh in the square headrest thing.

Other than that, to comply it when you get it back, call Dean @ UPI (Post and i'll go get you the details)... I think he charges 1200 dollars give or take and does a good job.

Cheers

Hey lorrie, thatnks for the input!

The car i'm going to be looking at is the other borg he has in stock. I'm pretty sure he gets his cars from the areas of japan that have heavy snow= salted roads= rust and poor paintwork. That doesnt matter because the car will be recieving a new coat of paint.

I think you'll find that the seats are stock, i'm pretty sure they're recaro designed, even though it doesnt say they are. Very comfy seats, would be a good upgrade for a VR4.

The ones your talking about are recaro fishnets.

This UPI place, where are they located? How much cheaper do you think it would be if I got some replacement doors with intrusion bars already installed? Is it possible to get it complied with a 4G63t? Or do you do that and engineer it later?

Would it even be worth engineering it? both engines look the same

dre

It's not just the doors you gotta do.

The major problem is the filler neck, but even if you do all the compliance work yourself, the engineer's certificate will still cost 600-800 dollars.

UPI is in moorabbin.

Vr4 seats are fine :p

My VR4's paint is FUCKED. but there's NO RUST ANYWHERE. So I'm just thankful for that. Paint is the last thing on my agenda tho. The clearcoats still on the car so i'm still happy :p

If it's the one in the photo, it looks pretty clean overall.

As for engineering the 4g63, either slot it in prior to compliance (it's JSPEC... nobody will know if it all looks factory) or don't bother engineering it. It'll be a nightmare to do if you have to change from 4g61xxxxxx on engine number to 4g63xxxxxx (you're better off to do it intially... get it covered by compliance costs!)... The engineer he uses EH GALL & ASSOC is a fair idiot. He basically just ticks the car off doesn't really look at it. So If you can get a fairly factory looking install (read stock as a rock) of a 4g63, you've got a legal 2 litre conversion done dodgy... also good for insurance as engine number matches up and you can't get canaried for it either. :D

this thing better have antilag and a screamer pipe like lilevo by the time you're done with it dre...

Always wanted a awd hatch!

You better be swapping your motor from your VR4 into that thing Clutz!!

And yeah like the others said, get it through as a 4G63 if possible.

these cars are 1140kg stock, so with some more weight reduction, I couldnt see why a car like that couldnt run a mid-low 11 with a stock bottom ended 4G63.

Benny, check this thing out, already has the 2.0, plus its the facelift model with the 3.545 running gear instead of 2.8. Nicer rear bumpers too. Pitty its so far away

filler neck isn't a problem for compliance, its just a problem to get ur car schmick.

All i had to do was put some screws in the neck and drop a fat washer down there. Dodgey but it is a "restrictor".

*cough* dodgey.....

Not many cars left there now.....
Can actually see the grass!!
And i see he still has a Q45 there!
Hmmmm, parts car :)

After the last time you were looking at that car (I think thats the same one?) and I called for you, I wouldnt bother looking Dre! He acted like a tool and I'm not the only one who was unhappy with the guy

I know, the guy has some issues, but i'm itching for a new project and he's dropped the price by $1400!!

I think he's just bitter because the 15y.o rule got shut down, which pretty much shut down his business. He should call bob the builder to build him a bridge so he can get over it.

I'll keep you guys posted, might be in Adelaide on monday or tuesday :p

Okay I touch down in Adelaide on monday @ 2.30pm, i'll be catching a taxi to Yahoo M.S's yard, unless one of you guys wants to pick me up :D

I'm excited already- new project time 8)

Shit I have the day off and the missus is at work so i have nothing to do....... I should have come on here over the weekend so i could have seen this earlier...
