hi, im new to anything mitsubishi. just bought a very cheap vr4 90 model. has supporting mods and makes me smile.....but seems to be missing a (working) engine :D

any ideas on what would bring her back to life?

options are rebuild vs stock engine.

how much do you think it would cost for a rebuild of the engine, e.g. cams, pistons etc? budget is roughly 4K but depends how long i can keep the job for.

thanks

for 4 k buy a whole new long block with turbo, manifolds etc, much easier and no headfuck running it in, unless your chasing some decent power a stock motor will be fine

Rebuild will cost you more than 4k unfortunately

My suggestion would be buy another motor that you know is in good condition, you can pick up a VR4 motor for around 1000-1500 now days, or a half cut for 2000-2500

And make sure you buy a good clutch :)

Then gradually over time rebuild your non working motor with forged items

+1 to what has been said already, i have just spent 6k on parts alone. although you could do a budget rebuild for 4k it isn't worth it in the long run

what i was thinking the other day, can stock cast pistons with the 63dt on top of them heat up enough to actually get those letters red hot as its a pretty small piece of metal to heat up

thanks for the help. il probably save the rebuild till the engine blows then ;)

any suggestions on what a good sized turbo would be? what do u guys think about the 20g? my aim for this car is 200+kw and 13's maybe even 12's later on.

the shopping list is: ecu, injectors, 272 cams (or should i go with 260's?), zorst, fmic, fuel pump
