Just bought my first GSR today

Thanks to Johnson for coming and looking it over with me, much appreciated!:thumbsup:

Here are some of the Mods / Specs:

JDM CC 1993 GSR
135K on the clock
Stock 4G93T tuned to run at a high of 18psi
(output unknown, previous owner didn't want to know, in order to avoid pissing contests, can't say I blame him!)
Blitz Dual-SBC SpecR Digital Boost Controller
Turbosmart Plumback Bov
18" Rims (I think? Might be 17's)
Evo 3 Bodykit & fibreglass E3 bonnet
Stock GSR guards with Commodore Indicator inserts.
(Normally I'd hate to have anything remotely Bommadore on a car I drive, but meh, they're growing on me!)
3" Exhaust & Exhaust Technology dump pipe
Aftermarket Air intake setup
Polished intake & intercooler pipework

Yes I know, you shouldn't list polished pipework as a "mod", but I have to have some sort of list!! :p:rolleyes:

I have recently purchased a 4G63T that Jon (Johnson) built, with Eagle Rods, Wiseco pistons, etc, that he'll (hopefully!) be putting it in for me once the stock 4G93T gets tired.

Also have a Big 16G & exhaust manifold I bought from Simon (mrcyborg), plus an ECM Link socketed ECU for the 4G63, that will hopefully use the DSM "Lite" package once ECMLink release it.

Will probably also look to upgrade the brakes & drivetrain to Evo 3 parts at the same time, if I can find them....?

Also want to fit a set of lightweight gunmetal or black Rays /SSR /Buddy Club - type wheels, as the chromies aren't too bad, but don't look as good IMO.

Great buy, like I said, if you didn't buy it I would have! Let the cleaning up and modding begin.

i dont think its a jap spec mate. jspecs have rear wiper, rear electric antennae and electronic climate control.

and 18psi on stock engine? is that safe?

also what rear bar is that?

all in all nice car though..

Awesome car, 2nd GSR ive seen with then indicators now :p

looks to be an AUS delievered GSR by the non climate controle unit and no rear wiper but it has a japspec cluster, and rear wiper button, do JAP spec GSRs have arial at the above drivers door or rear passenger boot

Ummm wheres the engine chassis/vin/information plates??

I'm confused about the whole JDM or not thing then. I'm no expert, but I always thought an import should have a metal ADR compliance plate on the firewall in the engine bay. Instead, this car has an ADR compliance sticker!? I'll post a pic later today.

The sticker is sitting in the glovebox, still on it's backing though, and hasn't been put on the car. Is it supposed to go in the engine bay?

The previous owner advised me the car originally did have the rear wiper, but the rear window was smashed and had to be replaced - that's what I was told anyway - does that sound like BS?

And no, I don't really think 18psi for a 4G93T is a very safe amount of boost to run, so I won't be using that particular setting on the boost controller!! 10 PSI only for me.

Congrats on the buy Jonathan, you seem estatic!!

I'd keep the little TD04 wound down to a max of 15psi as any higher, it would be well out of it's efficiency range.

looks good mate! nice and clean! 18psi on a stock 93 maybe asking for trouble .....

get rid of those VZ inserts though, they belong on a bommadore ....

Nice find it looks clean, but I am not a fan of those Commodore indicator cut outs either... will look nice with some Jap wheels on it like you suggested, and some genuine Evo 3 mesh in the bumper would look a hell of a lot better too.
This car does have the button for the rear windscreen wiper also.

Sorry for the noob GSR question, but does anyone know what the button above the power window controls on the drivers arm rest is supposed to do?

Nothing seems to happen when I push it at the moment?

As for the Bommadore indicators, I think on the "to save up for" list is a set of genuine e3 guards and side repeaters.

Car is off to Pedders tomorrow to get a knocking sound coming from underneath the car, towards the front passenger side, checked out.

Tempted to get the Whiteline anti-lift kit fitted at the same time, and maybe the heavy duty swaybar. Would you guys recommend these mods as good start for upgrading the handling?

First time you have owned an electrically operated window car eh?

Push the button down, then try to operate all the passenger door electric windows...

That should answer your question. :p

Oh.....FFS!!

Can't half tell I used to drive a Cordia before this car!

I'm still not over "window goes up....window goes down....window goes up...." yet!!

congrats on the purchase mate

on a gsr dont upgrade the front sway bar as it is already quite thick.

look at the castor/anti lift bushes and maybe a uprated rear sway bar.

the best thing to do is get the suspension all up to scratch to start with and go from there.(ie replace any worn bushes etc...)

Jonathon, don't pay pedders to do it. It will be the front control arm rear bush or the lhf ball joint. Get them to diagnose it and I'll fix it, for a lot cheaper than they ever will. Pedders are so far overpriced.
