Legnum VR4 type S FTW

its got more options then a evo IX , ayc, remote mirrors, recaro option, sat nav , etc

Legnums are nice (Bob has one obviously), i've driven them a bit and they are actually really nice to drive.

BUT

Boot floor to roof isn't that high, maybe 900mm tops. Same issue in stagea's and caldina's. You may be SOL depending on the size of your dj gear and have to get ye olde BA Wagon on gas.

stagea with a r34 facelift

I was going to suggest a ovloV 850R, but god they're ugly. still got a 5 cyl turbo engine lots of safety and relativily reliable.

the 6A13TT is a shit engine and they really are big hefty tanks.

The most important thing you have to know about an RVR is that my Mum has had two. I don't care how much 4G63T is in them, they're a mini people mover and that is fail.

What is so shit about them??

I had an RVR and they are awesome. Depends on what you want it for I guess- I took the rear seat out and there is HEAPS of room for carting dogs and gear....

I still think the Legnum is a nice, classy car- especially the facelifts with leather.

Does it have to be a 5spd?? I am going to get a facelift auto as my next daily.

Agreed with you there dre, my next daily will be auto.. and hopefully a legnum.. Does the caldina have a big boot space?

the older ones have heaps of issues..... especially electrical issues which are a PITA to fix.

I suppose the newer ones would follow suit. But yes, the volvo driver stigma is a definite downside lol.

I think a black RVR hypergear R is the ideal choice ;D

Nah but seriously, its comfortable on long trips, easy to mod, and the sliding door is AWESOME.

Once this guy at my work thought hed be a smartarse and park realllly close to my drivers door? And I was parked a bit too close to a wall to get in the other side.

So, I just got in the sliding door and climbed over the front seat.

He was pretty blown away hehe.

Anyway, Dre is correct, it is huge in the back without the seats. Also apparently its possible to relocate the ugly ass spare wheel underneath the car using a bit from a nimbus.

And! It isn't a people mover because it has a sliding door, it's more like a mini-suv if anything.
Oh, the rear seat folds down into a bed too.

Caldinas and legnums are both sexy machines however. I worry about the availability of parts though, theres no australian analog. The stagea may be ugly as sin but at least its not as difficult to get parts. I have never seen a caldina in person, and I've seen maybe 3 legnums; stageas are quite common.

The downside of this being that cops are probably aware that stagea=skyline, I doubt they would know with a legnum, caldina or RVR what it even was.

That Stagea may have a pretty face but she still has a terrible ass!

Dan you know it's the right choice. Legnum FTW

I have heard nothing but great things about those Legnums.

yea just like any car they have there issues though, rear turbo is prone to blowing seals, if the ayc hasnt been maintained we knoe what that means, pretty much normal stuff.

I've driven a few Legnums and Caldina ST215Ws ... Would definitely choose the Caldina. The manuals are great fun (not in the ST246W model shown in OP though). It's more fun and quicker overall than the Legnum. You can't do much with a Legnum to get better performance either due to lack of space. The Legnum also has filthy fuel consumption. Sorry to bag a Mitsi on a Mitsi forum  I was set on a Legnum until I heard about the fuel consumption from a few owners, then I drove a Caldina. Has a nice boy racer feel around the twisties and it's lighter and more economical. If you choose a Legnum, avoid the autos since they are not reliable.

You could also consider a Volvo V40 T4 ~1998 vintage (145kw or so). They go decently and if you do some reading you'll find that there are quite a few bolt on mods that can be done to them with minimal expense :) They're only FWD though.

I just saw a black vr4 (the new ones) on the road, they look SWEET!!!!

(why is it when i'm driving the gf's pink Mazda 2 i have two wrxs tail gating me, begging for a beating in the vr4, that black vr4 , as well as an s2000 next to me at the lights and a riced up SS tailgating me. And that just a 10 minute trip to Bunnings and back.)
Why didn't i take the vr4????? lol

If you don't plan on racing/thrashing it and do the wave spring fix (with the box in) and it's all good- just get an auto cooler....
