Hey all,

Looking to change out the oil in both my front and rear difs.

* LSD with ALEX custom setting
- Front: Cusco LSD RS 1 way 4,000Km (2,500mile) ago
- Rear: Cusco LSD MZ 1 way 3,500Km (2,188mile) ago
* Evo RS front LSD conversion parts
* Evo RS rear LSD conversion parts

It hasn't been changed since I bought the car from the previous owner. Anyone have any recommendations? I'd probably prefer to go with redline since my local shop sells that brand. Other suggestions?

Thanks as always,
deviantek

I am using a Kaaz 1.5 way front lsd.

Whatever is in the box has to be a GL4 oil, not GL5 like alot of the top end gearbox oils ie, Redline lightweight shockproof.

I'm using Mitsubishi Diaqueen 75-85 GL4 oil with Redline LSD additive.
As for the diffs, you can go the GL5 stuff. I'm using reline shockproof in my rear diff (viscous lsd) and transfer case.

Yeah, I use redline heavy shockproof in my tranny, but wasn't sure if that's something that should be used in a cusco 1-way lsd.

p.s. on the search function you can't simply search thread titles only, and searching becomes more hastle then it's worth in these forums... but maybe that's my personal opinion (I like search button in most forums, but this one just doesn't seem very effective).

I'm going to have to agree with deviantek in regards to the search function. The inability to search titles makes it a huge hassle when you need something quick so you can fix your ride rather than sitting hrs on end trying to figure out something specific. Wouldn't it make sense if you are looking for something in particular to find it derived from the title rather than getting some hits on words people may have just mentioned but hardly address the issue at hand? annoying

Exactly. Strikes me as odd since this is a vbulletin forum, but doesn't include that search "thread titles" option like every other car forum I use :p

I dont see what the difference is- if the info is there, its there! What it comes down to or not, is if YOU really want to find it out or not. So what if it's not in the title? The majority of good discussions aren't necessarily always covered in the topic!

Searches are encouraged so that the same stuff isn't covered over and over again, so when you do search it doesn't come up with pointless threads which have been covered before.

If you are impatient, then perhaps try one of these sites instead- there's a wealth of info on the net (if you know where to and how to look)

That link posted above is a good one about redline oils with our gearbox's

Thanks for the link. However it still seems a bit confusing as there is no definitive answer for what exactly does and doesn't work. Should I be worrying about the heavy shockproof redline I put in the transmission?

Re-read his first post in this thread. If thats not a definitive answer, then I don't know what is.

with that said, should I immediately drain the fluid that I just payed $70+ for, or am I "OK" to drive on it for awhile?

LOL, i had this issue about 2 months ago, and i have the cusco type MZ diff. Your gonna have to play around to find the proper gear oil and lsd additive to get what you want or order the cusco lsd oil. I bought a jug of Redline Shockproof lsd oil the other day, but i haven't tried it. i currently run Havoline 85w90 convential gear oil with a 40 ml bottle of lsd additive, works for about 4,000kms. Check out my thread on this http://4gtuner.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8853
