Ah I wondered what that thing was.. presumably thats the MPI relay? Surely a relay that size isn't necessary for just the fuel pump.

The service manual (the one posted here) is quite unhelpful, I can't help but feel bits are missing.

Oh as an addendum, today the car wouldn't start, and in figuring out why not I finally made the alarm work! It is like a miracle day today.
