What Is Ultimate Duty?

Manufactured exclusively for MAPerformance by Howards Racing Components we developed these connecting rods to fulfill the needs of the hardcore enthusiast. Designed to handle 1000+ horsepower in a 4 cylinder application these truly are ultimate duty connecting rods!

Research & Development

The research phase for these connecting rods consisted of a process called Finite Element Analysis which helped us to determine the weakest points of the factory connecting rod design. Using that information we developed a prototype using state-of-the-art CNC equipment that included the finest high nickel AQ4340 billet steel material, Ampco 18 bronze wristpin bushings, Manton alignment sleeves, and massive 7/16" ARP 2000 series fasteners. In the final development phase the prototype was heat treated, fully stress relieved, and shot peened to ensure that no stress risers or surface imperfections remain. The end result: A 652 gram connecting rod that we feel is the strongest and most reliable steel connecting rod available on the market for this application.

Important Note: In order to increase bearing surface area and load capacity these connecting rods utilize rod bearings from the 1990-1992.5 6 bolt 4g63 (ACL Part # 4B1146H).

Guaranteed Unbreakable

We are so confident that these connecting rods will not bend or break that we are willing to guarantee it! If you bend or break one of these connecting rods from shear power we will reimburse you 100% of the purchase price.

Of course there are some stipulations with this guarantee as we simply cannot reimburse failures resulting from detonation, overheating, and/or lack of oiling. If you do manage to bend or break these bad boys we will need to see the rest of your engine components so that we can determine the cause of the failure! All reimbursements will be made at our discretion.

$725 - Locally balanced to .5g, includes ACL Race Bearings

The PRO-12 is designed for direct fire (waste spark) and coil per cylinder applications. It features two separate trigger inputs and coil outputs that must be fired alternately (minimum time between channels firing = 1.0 mS).

PRO-12 SPECIFICATIONS

Maximum ignition frequency = 600/350Hz
Supply voltage = 13.8 DC (negative ground only)
Operating voltage = + 5 to +15V (restrictions apply)
Ignition coil voltage = 480V
Output is short circuit protected
Reverse polarity load dump protected
Spark energy = 115/170mJ (normal/high power modes)
12V tacho output
LED indicator power/trigger
-40?C to +105?C
Dimensions W=110mm, H=40mm, L=140mm
Weight = 685 grams
Maximum current draw = 7A
Dual coil output channels
CAUTION! Due to the high voltage used by this system (480V+), touching the primary side of the ignition coil when the engine is running may result in a painful electric shock.

BUMP!!!

Surely someone is building a real motor on here lol

Just curious ....the rods are 7 bolt but need different bearings from a six bolt? so correct me if I am wrong....the six bolt bearing is wider and the six bolt crank has a radius to the pin as well. so will the bearings that are needed for these Rods fit on a seven bolt journal without mods to the crank?

I hope that question makes sense

Yeah sorta?

These will fit evo 1-9

Will not fit vr4

Vr4 have wider bearing and a different size pin for the piston

Yes that's correct. They are 7 bolt rods (Evo 1-9), but use the wider 6 bolt bearing. Works perfectly with an unmodified 7 bolt crank. Actually the original eagle rods were the same.
