I just finished my vr4 conversion and wondering what's the max boost for it since i'm all new to this now

It's a stock j-spec vr4 import motor.

stock j-spec dual ecu
stock dump pipe and manifold
450cc injectors
dual cyclone inlet
2.5" exahaust

thanks
johno

im not too sure lol It came off 89-90 vr4 if that helps?

I thought i took a pic of the code number on the turbo but couldn't find it

on a 14b unless it was chipped with supporting mods!
I wouldn't be pushing anything past 15 thats for sure.

atm its going at 10ish psi

i guess i'll leave it at that till i get bigger turbo, i'll have a look at the code tomorrow to found what it is.
any suggestion bigger turbo?

what are the differences between 16g and 20g? and would i have to do supporting mods as well?

Yes, you will need supporting mods or a new motor!
I would convert the ecu to a single board and chip it. That way you should be able to at least log it and keep an eye on things.
I would then upgrade the injectors and fuel pump followed by the fuel pressure reg and exhaust etc etc etc, the list goes on forever!

That's when you need another job when the bug bites just to keep you rides Modding fix satisfied ;)

I've got a whinebro pump and sard regulator so far, next will be a 3" exhaust

I'm having problem increasing the boost. I can only adjust between 1-7psi. The lower I go better response at after 3k as to higher starts boosting at 4k.

I ended up putting the stock controller because it gives me 8psi with a gradually boost after 3.5k

I would say it is one of a few things.
1. Boost leak
2. Cracked manifold or exhaust housing.
3. Stuffed manifold to turbo gasket.

My 14b used to actually hit full boost closer to 3200.

hmm, i have a 2 1/4 exhaust on my ggsr off a 2.5 inch front pipe with a small 16g and i make about 13 psi spiked to around 14/15 in 3rd gear at about 3-3.5k rpm.. and my exhaust is a restriction, it couldnt ahve just been your zorst, 2.5 inch is decent enough isnt it..

How come you have an adjustible FPR? what was wrong with the stock one?

it was running rich with whine bro pump. well i was told to get one due to it will run rich.

well.. when i did the conversion, my existing exhaust wouldn't fit. I had to modify it, I really didn't have much piping around besides a stock cb lancer exhaust  Hacked up few pieces just to join from cat to dump pipe.

I think that pipe was like 1.75 for a stock cb exhaust. Now with a 2.5" then 3" mandrel to the back.
