well.. when i did the conversion, my existing exhaust wouldn't fit. I had to modify it, I really didn't have much piping around besides a stock cb lancer exhaust Hacked up few pieces just to join from cat to dump pipe.

I think that pipe was like 1.75 for a stock cb exhaust. Now with a 2.5" then 3" mandrel to the back.

Back to your original question, until you get a chipped ecu, you will boost cut at around 14 psi (if you have no air leaks anywhere), no matter which turbo you have. A chipped ecu will remove that boost cut so you can run more boost.

It does cut at 14.. only running 12-13. I'm happy with that at the moment

If you have after market boost controller leave the factory one plugged in at the wires just don't have any vacuum lines hooked up to it.
By the sounds of it your getting major knock counts
