Mines VX-Rom Evo 3 Lancer Ecu

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

I'd say half of that, i mean its nothing that special, just a chipped ecu for Japanese fuel and conditions......

isnt it??

Mines VX-ROM for Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III

This replacement ECU is mapped by the Japanese Tuning House Mines, and runs the following:

- Removes 110mph/180kmh speed cut

- Allows Revs to 8000rpm

- AFR of 11.8-12

Runs more agressive fuel and ignition/timing maps.

Will definately increase performance (e.g. torque), boost should come on earlier and run up to 1.4bar but existing modifications may determine any exact increase in bhp/kw. Just unplug the old one and replace with this.

Jon

My Evo 3 came with the Mines chipped ecu. And yes, no speed cut, at least 8000 rpm. Need to watch your boost level though. Evo 3 with its 9:1 compression won't tolerate much more than 1.2 bar boost without detonation.
Mine now has a E-manage linked up with it.

I sure as hell wouldn't pay $700 for just some more fuel and a rev cut!

couple of hundred more and you can have a microwreck/wolf/etc..

Microtech is the cheapest of the ones you mentioned and they arent plug and play for an evo lancer. They have to be wired in and they actually cost $1200 for the unit and around $300 to wire in not to mention tuning it afterwards, so you would be looking at near $2000.

This on the other hand is a plug and play ecu tuned by Mines workshop in japan. Cant fail epa test with it cos its factory!

for half of 700 you couldnt even buy an evo/vr4 eprom ecu..

Jon

yes you can, I have a chipped VR4 ECU i'll take $300 for.

Like you said, the Mines chip is designed for Jpanaese fuel and conditions.

Something like a Gizzmo chip IMO would be better, and they're alot cheaper......

http://www.gizzmoelectronics.com/product_ecu.htm

Has it had a socket installed in it Dre? If not add $80 to install a socket with a zif..

Then add an $450NZD for a chip + shipping.. so say around $$450AUD if you dont get hit with taxes.

So what we looking at Dre around $300 for VR4 ecu (mind you evo is worth more) then add $80 to add a socket plate with zif.. then add $450 for a chip.

Grand total: $830AUD..

or a Tested and proven Mines Tuned ecu.. for an EVO.. mind you.. the price above was for a VR4!

you like doing things the hard way dont ya jonny!!

what about Trademe? or NZMMC?

Your making it hard by hijacking my thread :p

Ive pointed out what it would cost if you want with the way you said you would go..

I found out that the Mines VX Rom Ecu cost $1200 new!!!

Look Dre youve made your point.. but i still think it would cost what i quoted.. You could buy something like this from NZ or via Trademe but how are you 100% sure that it works? They are like ages away.. what happens if it doesnt work? are you gonna go visit them with a baseball bat?

In the end of the day i guess its only worth what someone is willing to pay whether it be $500 or 700.. hey

How much is one worth?

$700 ?

Jon

You asked everyone how much you thought its worth, and I told you what I think its worth. Sorry!!

I put the trademe link up, not for chips, but gizzmo tuned ecu's- pretty much similar to yours but tuned to NZ fuel and conditions.....

If you wanted a VR4 chip- thats easy, chchvr4 does them for $80 NZD

Whilst you are correct on the EPA..

you are incorrect on the microtech.. brand new installed $1100.. well, for me anyway ;)

Well thanks for your suggestions guys.

For me i think its still worth around ~$500 + area.. but hey finding someone to pay that much is another question.

In regards to how it runs well from what ive been told the ecu has been in my car for afew years and hasnt missed a beat. Its made 165AWKW like 2 years ago.. and i expect the car has more power now.

It will never be as good as a standalone ecu.. but as a replacement for a stock ecu its great :)
