motorcycle oil vs. car oil

hey all I was just wondering if I could run motorcycle oil in our cars. Where I'm from its kind of difficult to find some good quality oil. I would like to get my hands on some Motul 300v power for the car or something along those lines but we dont have a supplier here. Could I use motorcycle oil like the motul 300v full synthetic for motorcycle as I can easily get that at the local motorcycle shop? I religiously use only motul products for my bike and I love it I wonder if its the same for the car.

I don't see how this could be any different, as long as the grading is the same as you would use for a car there should be no problem.

Surely your local distributor can get it if they can get the Motorcycle variant?

called them earlier today, unfortauntely thier suppliers only have motorcycle stuff no car stuff

300v competition (motorcycle) is 15w50 fully synthetic. and would probably work ok in your car, one thing to be carfull off is friction modifiers and such as the motorcycle oils can be modified for the wet clutch.

I am going to be running an oil supply business in a couple of months (if the negotiations work out!), so I will be learning all about the various types of oil - car, truck & bike; gear, diff & engine; as well as a whole lot of different brands.

Might even be able to ship oils (courier delivery).

I should be able to organise a Team4G discount.

The additives, friction modifiers & detergents will be different between bike & car oils, even though the base oil would be the same.

This is because a bikes engine oil also lubricates the gearbox, and the wet multi plate clutch.

If no other oil is available at all, it's probably better than nothing.

But if it's a choice between that and another lesser brand fully synthetic oil formulated for cars. . . . use the car oil
