While I've been a member here for years, I've never really contributed much at all, but after meeting JayRome the other day and having a good old chat about VR4 stuff and showing him the build I've got going, he said I had to put it up here.

I've somewhat documented my build on another forum here, (just need to sign up to get to this particular section though) - http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=1077429

Copying over the better bits already, I'll crosspost some of it here

Nice mate. You got pictures of the ex mani if it's finished? Looks like it's going to be special.

Looks like a fun build!
You might want to think about bigger injectors with E85 though.
The HX40 will max them out pretty quickly.
Probably, my goals weren't this high when I first got the injectors. I'll be keeping them until I tune it enough that they don't cut it anymore. I'm logging fuel pressure and AFR, so I'll know when they crap out.

Nice!
What is that billet alloy thing on the cyl head?
Oil Pressure regulator to the lifters as jack of all worked out :)

No update. The engine dropped in is as far as I've got with it. My bother is a welder and i'll be getting him to weld it all up, just that he's away for work and I'm waiting on him to get back so we can get stuck into that part as that is all that is needed to finish the car for now and have it running.

WOW, that's awesome. I love machined parts.

Did you do any porting on the head?
No porting, didn't want to spend the money on that.

Postion the HX40 where it suits you the best & get your brother to tac weld some braces from the head
flange to the turbo flange. He can then jig up the manifold on a bench & play with the runners.
1 & 4 in one side & 2 & 3 in the other to suit the twin scroll housing.
Cheers

hi can any one tell me what sort of power i will get out of my standard vr4 motor its fitted in a cb gsr hatch front wheel drive has front mount std ecu ?
also what are the best mods to do ? am out of the V8s and into the evo world  thanks

How long is a piece of string? The answer to that question has many variables.

Back on topic....awesome build Dakiller....I have a Holset on my Evo they are an awesome turbo!!
Cant wait to see how this build goes.

How did you guys couple your exhaust housing to your dump pipe?
The holset seems to have a funny size v-band. I'm thinking of just stacking a 3" v-band ontop of the original cast one and welding it on..
Same with the compressor housing.

I have the BEP rear housing.....I bought a MAP dump pipe which bolts straight up to my existing front pipe Mo....it bolts up to a standard evo dump too..thats the beauty of the BEP housing.

Ahh nice is that one of those Bullseye ones? I thought you might be using v-bands with ext gate.
This is one for a Nissan though so I think welding is going to be the easiest option for me. Cheers.
