So here i am turning into one of the backstreets going home from work, its 10:30 and tapleys hill road is dead. I think to myself does this have a 5500rpm stutterbox/launch control like most chips have, there i sit clutch in, 1st gear selected, revved up and hey i hear boost, so i think fuck it.
13 psi waiting to be put to the ground and my fucking god was it, before i new it i was at 60km/h in under a second, as my heart raced and just realised i launched a vr4 for the first time in my life, oh it was good!! :D
Wheels spun aswell, and i got a bit sideways, so for 13psi i was very impressed.

Matt :D

Oh hey dude, you got a VR4? :D
Nice man. You're making me even more eager to get my VR4 running, to feel this AWD phenomenon everyone around me speaks of!
Was it wet? I'm suprised to hear you say the wheels lost grip.

yeh still got my ggsr though ;)
i see why everyone loves AWD hey! definately get your vr4 cranking
nah was dry as too, fairly new road, i shat myself a bit as my ass hanged out towards a stoby

bad becuase of the stresses involved inside of the gearbox
and you launching at 18psi puts the driveline in a totally new ball game over standard

good or bad?

Yeah, it was sarcasm, basically the alloy housing has slightly different thermal expansion rates to the hardened steel outer bearing cups that sit inside the housing...all it takes is a bit of bad luck, or a hard launch...and the bearing cup spins in the housing, the newer xfer cases were steel to avoid this happening.

Matt, word of advice, don't launch it hard to many times without being slightly rolling forward first. You only have to be rolling forwards slightly to take great amounts of stress off the gearbox/transfer/diffs.
