hey guys, had my car put in the shop at a local mitsu dealership for a new timing belt (and timing belt pulley, auto tensions) and new clutch. I got the car back yesterday, and my temp guage is'nt working. any ideas of how ii can check it?

Its one of the wires underneath and behind the thermostat housing. From memory its a yellow wire with green trace but you cant miss seeing if one of the four wires around that area has come off a sensor :)

so i quickly decided to find out where this sensor is today, i traced the rad hoses back to the engine like in the diagram, found the connectors, all were connected, so i gave em a jiggle, the guage now works again. Gonna put some dielectric grease on em when it gets warm again. Now i'm gonna see whats up with the oil temp guage, if u already know where that one is too let me know, in the meantime i'm gonna look through some of the manuals to see if i can find it.

The 3 din gauges (which is probably the ones you have) are an option, so not all EVO's have them from factory. They're actually really rare.

Have a look around the oil filter housing and see if you can see anything tapped in around that area

The triple guage oil sensor is actually a special sump plug with the sensor built into it
So look at your sump plug if you have the Mitsu triple guage set ;)
9 times ot of 10 the wire gets ripped out of the sump plug/sender :?

ya i have the triple guage set, has'nt worked since i got the viehicle, where and what is the sump plug if you know? Also i have an oil cooler on it too, oil sump is that the oil pan? can't find a diagram or info about it.

umm if you dont know what a sump plug is.. i suggest you take the car to a mechanic.

nope, don't know what a sump plug is, i'm making an educated guess that you mean oil plug. Alot of you guys terminology is different from ours (ie, windscreen-windsheild, bushes-bushings, tyres-tires, oil sump-oil pan?) i'm basically trying to learn your lingo. I checked the evo manuals, there is no 'oil sump' on the evo. i ain't knockin your lingo, just opening my mind to new words, lol.

ok

oil pan = sump
oil pan plug = sump plug

ok, i dont have a wire on my sump plug, it's just a bolt, here's a pic of my oil cooler assembly, it has a wire on it, do u know what it is?
