New 1/4 mile PB tonight

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

im impressed by the motor, and taking that much timing at that much boost is awesome. is your WB in the front O2 location.
im also surprised about the 50trim, very impressve, have you had it long.
how is the no lift to shift for driveabliity? it looks like you hold the limiter at 6100, but once engaged it drops to 4xxx, does that affect it?

makes me want to get off my @ss and get some track time in..

need my cooler piping sorted so i can run some boost!

Shes a strong old girl thats for certain!
I've had the 50trim on there for just over 2 years now and it's never seen anything less than 25psi. It actually seems to recover pretty nicely, you can see how much boost it's making as soon as I let the clutch back out and doesn't appear to affect acceleration much at all.
I have been toying with the idea of increasing the nlts rpm to 6500 or so to see if it makes any difference to the mph.
The biggest drama with NLTS is when you are driving normally and forget to take your foot right off of the throttle between shifts, can be a bit embarrassing sometimes!

Bugger, forgot to mention, WB is just in front of the firewall and I use it to simulate the O2 sensor as well.

I was looking at your log again today, and i am pretty impressed,
basically to go faster you are going to need to raise your rev limit.
7300 on the line in 5th, and you get off the throttle within .2 after crossing.
I like that you only have the clutch fully out in first gear for 0.18 seconds, before you snap it into second!
I can see from the log that you short shift first compared to the other gears, it actually looks like you are out of first before you hit your NLTS limiter of 6100. (maybe there is something in that)
NLTS is awesome, with boost only dropping to 23psi between gears (at the lowest) rather then going into vac when you lift to shift..
and as you shuffle through the gears, you take them to within 100rpm of the limiter on the change.. do you have a shift light, or like a ducati do you drive by feel?

Great work mate.. there are some awesome numbers in this run ;)

also when you went e85, did you pump in the timing? is it more conservative on pulp?

I do tend to short shift 1st gear for some reason, I think it is because there is so much going on all at once that I don't want to bounce off the limiter! I'll get better at gauging it I guess and the 60ft times should come down once I do.
I LOVE my NLTS! I really makes driving so much easier and it actually makes the shifts kinder on the box as it tends to shift more like an auto.
No shift light, I've had the car for so long now that I can just tell where I need to shift :)
Top end is going to be a small problem as I don't really want to have to make another gear change that close to the line. I still have a bit more mph in it though, hopefully 4th will be good for around 130mph I hope!

I did pour in a fair bit of timing with the E85, on pump it is un der 20 tops and I can't run anywhere near as much boost. I think I was topping out at around 25 - 27 on pump.
E85 is where the power is at for this old girl!

I actually can't wait to retire the 50 trim once I get the funds together for the big turbo :)

weird, i'm sure i counted 4 gear changes, but maybe i was wrong..
anyway, i think i am going to get on the e85 bandwagon, i installed my 1050's tonight, and i love how easy it is with link to just set them up, and away i go, went for a quick burn around the block and they drive like stock... so happy so impressed, getting there.

maybe i'm confused with where first starts and ends in your log, (it's very busy down that end)

edit,
had a look again. looks like your clutch switch goes off in the middle of first gear, and it takes some rev's away from you, (at a guess) if you take your foot of the pedal it may bounce ever so slightly to enable the clutch switch and bring in the limiter.

but i relooked at the log from the end to the start, and it's easier to make out the gears.
have a look at 17.5 secs in the log, for about .26 seconds, anyway i'm still learning, these are great to look over, had a look at a 9sec dsm the other day, it's fuel is flowing at 4.5lpm awesome! i wonder how much air that is..??

Interesting Nick, I hadn't actually noticed that before as there it is a pretty wild ride for the first 60 or so!
I did have a fiddle with the clutch switch last week, I may have it wound out too far so it is just contacting the pedal. I'll have to check that out.
That might even help the 60ft times a tiny bit too :)

Good work Tim. Would have loved to see the looks on the spectators faces "Damn that is one fast magna" :w00t:

Congrats on the PB on E85 no doubt when more pumps become available more will be utilising the 85 for the xtra power that it brings with it as well as being a greenie

That NLTS feature is awesome. Raise the rpm level for sure
I wanna see some 6500rpm or more launches from the old girl.
Your welded centre diff will handle it, its just the rest that you cross-fingers you dont break

Another congratulations TIM!

You and your car were in the last issue of ZOOM magazine (151) in the QLD drag update section near the back!

LOL "Impressive 1.8 Sec 60-foot time too"

Get that 60 foot down to 1.6 and see how excited everyone gets! :)
