Yeah I agree, most of the scene over here is full of over riced up cars with not much poke to get them into sub 11's. You do get your exceptions though but they probably only account for only 1 in 10 of the cars in Autosalon that have the balls to match the looks. There's too many cars in shows here that wont do too good down the track anyway as they have 28 x TV screens, full leather interiors and 500kg worth of stereo and sub boxes in the back :lol: I dont agree with the rules of the show that the more TV's you have, airbrushing, stereo etc the more points you get :roll: I mean, who da fuk has TV screens on their bonnet, in the floor, under your nut sack inside the seat, or facing the people driving the car behind you??? the yellow lancer actualy ran a 9sec pass at the nats,someone correct me if im wrong,and the rx7 that someone linked to in this thread is a piece of riced out crap,once you see all the photos you will agree,it belongs in hot4s magazine,the interior is pure bad taste,i think from memory it has perspex seats and steering wheel.

I'd love to head across the lake to one of these events - is this one the 'biggest' that NZ has, or is there an event that'd be more worth while? Though if the rest of the kiwis are like Clutz, I'll probably get killed getting off the plane for being an Aussie :lol:

The 'nats' are the biggest in NZ by far, except for the dragmasters (Japan vs Muscle) and the night wars drag series, held every second friday (I think) during summer......
Dont forget Auckland has about 1/3 of the population of the whole country, so so its safe to say that its the place to watch it happen. Then there's the illegal drags, where it wouldnt be unheard of to see 2000 cars cruising :lol: :lol:
Its been a while since i've been back, and got into the scene- perhaps oSiRiS or someone else could fill us in on the strength of the scene, compared to when I lived there

I stopped going to the nats after I raced in 2001,since then the event has gone downhill fast,it used to be a great event where people respected your car and true enthusiests attended and appreciated cars.
Now the event is overun with gangsta wannabes who only go to be "seen" at the nats,fights are common,peoples cars being damaged are common,theres been alleged rapes and stabbings,my mate took his nice car to the sunday drags and some idiot decided to kick in the door as he drove into the carparking area.
one good thing is they got rid of the overnight party which just turned into an alcohol fueled mess,people smashed over for no reason,cars damaged for no reason,people going around intimidating everyone,i just got sick of it.the only good thing about it is most of the pro imports turn up all at once where as the rest of the time they hardly show up to events.
In my opinion the event has gotten too big spectator wise,theres hardly any good viewing points if you get in late.import allstars will most likely be a better event with all imports gathered to race,the nats attracts too many idiots in cefiros and any old piece of crap they get there hands on to race,if they want to call it the nats then it should be restricted to the best cars only,its a big event and I dont know of too many people who want to watch 13,14,15 sec passes.
alot of other people dont bother attending anymore and its mostly the older folk who were around at the start of these events,we have watched it go downhill and now its soley for young boy racers,I dont like the promoters either,they do nothing good for the scene but rake in profits,I remember one year they stiffed everyone on competitor shirts which every entrant recieved,they care so much that they changed the 2005 shirts by modifying the existing shirt and painting the 5 to look like a 6 thus making 2006 shirts-a complete joke and looked rangi as,as you can tell I dont like the event at all.
alot of people still have good experiances though and seem to stay away from trouble or not even see any,but its there.hopefully the import allstars events will turn out like your jamboree events,the promoters are trying hard so it should get there
