Hi guys

My rvr feels like lacking of power after having a t04e bolted up. The turbo kicks in at 4k rpm (i barely can feel it), and boost doesn't seems to be holding aswell. No leaks on silicon couplings, o2/maf sensors are ok. I was thinking the chip may need to be retune to suit the to4e. Whats your opinion? Any perth tuners has experience with ecmlink??

Heres are some specs on the rvr;
t04e turbo w ext 38mm wastegate
3" all the way to the dump, cat, and cannon
evo 9 MR bov rec back into intake
hks evc 5
ecmlink lite v3

im going to ask a really stupid question,

why did you choose a to4e? what are the full specs of the turbo, trims, A/R housings etc?

you shouldnt need a retune to see a benifit of a better turbo, of course it will be better once a tuner takes advantage of it, but the stock MAS based ecu setup works well with engine mods.

i can almost garrantee the problem will be mechanical, not ecu related (unless plugs are not done up etc).

Narh man not off ebay lol, its a turbonectics t4OE 60-1 turbo off a forum member. I'm going to take a look at the housing tomorrow morning.

what spring pressure have you got in the external wastegate?

what do you mean

and boost doesn't seems to be holding aswell

if you have ecmlink setup, what max g/rev are you pulling?

i know with my SCM6152E, its slower than a 16G at the same boost pressure.

12psi on the ex wastegate. I meant when the turbo hit 4k rpm n continue above the boost won't build up properly. it will build up but very slow n I can barely feel the pull. Sorry for the noobish description. I might need to take a look on the evc 5 n ecmlink setup tomorrow or worse may need some one to check out the rvr to help a noob out lol

take the boost controller out of the equation, and start a fresh.

if the EVC was setup for the last turbo, the setting will probably be no good with this one.

Found out this morning the In/out setup on my evc 5 stepping motor it was plugged incorrect. Corrected that now, and its holding boost. I ended up setting mode A to 1 bar for daily driving and mode B to 1.4 bar, I wanted to set 1.5 bar for mode B.

I followed the evc setup guide and for some odd reason the max boost wont reach till 150 kPa on 3rd gear full throttle and the mode B knob is already fully turned clockwise. Any idea? or probs the turbo can reach 1.4bar max only... I'll get back to you with log Brian.

The rvr has maf 878 and yellow injectors 510cc @ 3bar/43.5psi.

These are my initial settings that I had on the ecmlink lite ver 3.
Device type: ECMLink v3 - 2G DSM
Injector size 510 cc/min
Base fuel pressure 43.5 psi
Global fuel 11.5%
Target idle: 859rpm
Launch limit 2000rpm (testing out the feature)
Rev limit 7500rpm
Adjusted the TPS and Idle sw.

and heres a copy of the ecmlite log 1st to 3rd gear:

there is enough knock in that to be worried.....

airflow shows at about 20 lb/m should be a lot more. A little 14b off a vr4 will give you 25lb/m if everything else is right.

Is that airflow meter compatible?

I've set the Injector size to 510 cc/min, and Base fuel pressure to 43.5 psi on ecmlink, and the maf meter is stock standard. Are you seeing somehting different on the log Brian? Yup i can tell there's knockret after 4k rpm. Anyway i dont know whats going on atm, i just came back driving the rvr, now the boost can only hold until 0.4 bar on full throttle regardless i set the boost controller to 0.5 bar or 1.5 bar.

I've got a few questions before removing the evc boost controller in morning.

-Once the evc is removed, the mr bov, and ex wastegate would stop working, correct?
-With the tube removed from the nipple beside the turbo air discharge and I can just hook up the existing boost gauge to it nipple?
-How about the tube removed from the intake manifold, where does it goes to?

in the log

click the ECU CONFIG TAB

click the FUEL TAB

at the bottom of that page click CALCULATE and that brings up a small window that tells you the fuel pressure and injectors size.

input the correct data there and click USE. {a tip that TOM gave me was that the 510cc isnt 510cc but actually 495cc so try using that too.}

after that click SAVE ALL TO ECU

where do you live ...south or north.

if you are close to me....swing buy and I can have a quick look.

I suggest you disconnect the EVC and install a manual boost control valve ay least untill you have sorted the tune issues.

I get a feeling the tune is lean right now so be careful trying to boost!!

I will ask a question to see if that AFM is compatible or if you need to use the 609 evo afm

Hey Brian i live on the south side. Next to cannington. I don't mind doing a long drive even if u live far away. Can you pm when can I drop by, i'm pretty much free everyday. the car definitely need some care attention, too bad i dont know much abt car  I should have been a mechanic, taken the wrong career path!

btw Ive updated the injector size to 495cc, saved all, and I was thinking a manual turbosmart boost controller, what ya guy think?
