Hey guys, been noticing a bit of a whine or similar on deceleration in 3rd gear only when dropping to around 50kmh or less.
No other gear does it, but.... The noise seems to eminate from the rear. I changed diff oil yesterday, no shavings in the old fluid and the noise hasn't changed. What I did notice, and it may have been there prior, is play in the tailshaft. I would probably say 1/8th turn in it.
Is this normal or could there be a seperate cause for the noise?
Cheers.

Cheers benny, wiiling victim perhaps lol. Have closer inspection Saturday I reckon. Just want to work out what it is...
Bennys parts, port and polishing.

Oh jack...... I didnt pick that as I was typing. damn it!!!!
Clutz, oem clutch for me. I had thought of the possibility of frequencies coming down the drivetrain. But doubtful. Good call though.

Im running xtreme 8 puck clutch with some customised pressure plate for higher clamping force.

Jack the ass end up and grab tailshaft and twist it if its moving alot before the wheels do , it might pay to get the pinion gear shimmed

Yeah true crocket, I dare say that would be it mate. Given I work late, I'll have to wait til weekend to have a proper check tho.
Has your noise been there since the clutch was replaced or just "happened"?
