Oil catch cans

Help Support 4GTuner:

What could go wrong with a can / canister ?

Provided it is installed, plumbed and used correctly then nothing should go wrong.

And if there is one all ready on the car and has been for a few years cld it cause problems of not working correctly and if so wort sort of problems ?

Ive never had any problems.

I left the PCV in to let it do its job and plummed the other breather into the catch can, then back into inlet next to the charcoal cannister outlet line.
The inlet has never been oily!

I think you'll find that is the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) breather.

What about using an "oil - air separator" as one made by "smc" (pneumatic item) similar to whats used on an air compressor system, but go for a 1/2" or 3/4" inlet and outlet...
Generally smaller than an a traditional "catchcan" comes with own drain and can vent straight to atmosphere....... simple yet effective....
I use one, have done for years :)

Also illegal to have venting to atmosphere.

oops.. didnt know that :p
plumb the outlet of the oil/ air separator back into the charcoal cannister..
point is the oil mist is filtered out of the air completely... its designed to do so...
