oil for straight cut gears

Not a mitsi, but I know a few of you have noisy straight cut gears.
We recently took a landrover to sa. It has a fairy overdrive for 5th gear. This gear is straight cut and is noisy enough to stop conversation.

It only holds less than 1 litre of oil so price is not that big a deal.
What oil shuts these straight gears up best?

Seems something around 90 weight oil is the spec.

Fairy overdrives are just plain noisy. I was going to put one on my 60 series Landcruiser a while back, but decided not to after speaking to a gearbox builder, he described exactly the situation you mentioned. I can't remember all that

was said, but the words "C*nt of a thing", "fuck all", and "won't hear shit" spring to mind. Throw a tub of grease in it, or just go for a rubber overdrive and stay in 4th.

Well a hearing test (for work medical) has shown no permanent damage to left ear. So that is good. There is a bit of info on landy forums.
Prolly the shockproof is worth a try
