Oil pressure issues

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Problem may be solved : ) it turns out there is something different about my head it has g6s on the side and will at Jhh informed me it's a vr4 head due to the port size but the problem was the head studds are too small for my arp 12 mm head studds so I'm getting the drilled out right now to accomidate the larger studds

Yeah mean you had smaller head studs that the head required?!?!

Is it a 7bolt block or 6bolt block?

If you are using a 7bolt (evo block), then they take 11mm studs. The VR4 block takes 12mm studs.

Or are you going even bigger in head studs, ie 13 - 14mm??

Sorry what I meant was the holes were too small for the 12mm arp studds so no oil could get upto the head.....can't be a Evo head it has the big ports and no port work has been done,as you can still seeing the casting in the ports ....so it's got me stuffed but they were drilled out bigger and should be goin on today : ) And it's a 6 bolt vr4

But no oil comes up through the studs? Weird, ask them Exactly what they are modifying? There shouldn't be any problems with oil getting up there with the standard oil passageways.

Doesn't it go up the side of 1 there is a hole about 10mm up the goes to the camshaft journals?

atleast it will be back on the road soon enough ...maybe lesson learnt that you need a mitsi expert next time?

Hey, might be a long shot but which regulator is fitted to the head,is it possible that you have a n/a GSR head, basically the same as a VR4 but has a different oil pressure regulator fitted. As I said might be a long shot. There is a topic in here somewhere.

Nah I've got a 4g63t not 4g93t it's defenently got the right oil distribution block we look at 4 different vr4 heads at Jhh engineering it's right

Very true my old bottom end will be goin to Jhh to see what damage is done then throw some rods bearings and pistons if needed

I believe there is a hole that feeds the head via the head stud.

I wouldn't have thought that 12mm head studs would fit in an evo type head?

But if it is a big port head, then it should be VR4 or GSR GALANT.

Regardless, still no oil is going up the the head?

I should have made myself a lot clearer.A n/a GALANT GSR has the same head as a VR4 but it does have a different oil distribution block fitted in the head.I'm not sure why you mentioned a 4G93T.What are the castings on the end of the head (gearbox end) you will at the least know head what your working with.

Gearbox side it has g6s .....it did fit on the 12mm head studds but it was very tight so I guess that's why the oil wouldn't get into the head...but now they have been drilled out to 12.5 or 13mm so the oil should get up into the head now hopefully I'll find out tonight or early tomorrow morning

all fixed on the road picked it up today ...hopefully nothing goes wrong during run in

I knew it was too good to be true ....as I pick the car up the mech says did it always have a vibration threw the car ....I said no so I took it now after driving it it's like tailshaft is fucked or something is touching the body of the car it's weird ....should the workshop be responsible for fixing this since it wasn't there when the car was driving prior to the engine swap

Is the vibration there if you free rev the motor, if so, then he got the balance shaft 360 degrees out.

+1

Unlikely the tailshaft would be out just sitting in the shop.

More likely they didnt put the screwdriver in the back of the block when the timing belt was done
