Have got my E2 going good now but I'm just a little perplexed?

I have a oil pressure guage (electronic) and the oil pressure seems quite high, it runs at idle around 25 - 30 psi which is normal but at around 3000rpm it is between 90 - 100 psi which seems a little on the high side, i have had the oil pump changed too (unrelated) it ran the same on the old pump?

My old 4G93T ran max 70psi

So i was interested what other people's oil pressure was on there E 1/2/3

My whole understanding of oil pressure was, the more the better.

My OP gauge is about to go in.. i'll get back to you on what it reads!

i dnt actully have a gauge but do you blow dip sticks i have and that is annoying i think it is a disign fault

Answer:
Slightly squash the dipstick tube (top), holds MUCH better

I also know of a 4G54 that had sooooo much oil presure, it blew out every oil seal  (this was in a sprint car - speedway)

It's relief valve was dead.

maccavr4, your crank pressure is insane if you're throwing dipsticks. I'd get your bottom end looked at.

mine before the rebuild

cold start - 100psi
idle - 15 psi
7000 rpm - 100psi ish

after the rebuild
(balance shafts removed)

cold start - 102psi
idle - 30 psi
7000 rpm -102psi

after porting out my oil filter housing
cold start - 60psi
idle - 15psi
7000 rpm - dont know yet, haven't gone that high

its a common problem
the rule of thumb (every 1000rpm should = 10 psi)

high oil pressure could lead to blowing dipsticks, seals, damaging turbo's..
i know ballbearing turbos dont like high pressure... whereas the mitsu turbo's love it!!
