Has anyone put vr4 1g straight cut oil pump gears on an evo 2 front cover? Is it just the gears that get swapped and then just check the end play?

no offense meant in this comment.......why would you do that? do they have greater volume of flow?

only reason i can think of, is if you are not running balance shafts and want to prevent the side loading of the helical gear slowly (quickly) wearing into the housing.

i dont know the answer sorry, might need to bust out some verniers.

No offence taken, to4garret is correct. The straight cuts stop the side loading on the housing at big rpm with no balance shafts.

There was a discussion about this with the GVR4 US guys and from what I recall, the straight cut ones were replaced by the helical ones simply because of noise.
