Hi guys

I currently have SR3 recaro fronts in my gsr and am thinking of what to do with the rear seats

these are the options

Option 1 (which im kind of not really happy with)
Standard GSR rear seats. Pros: No cost Cons: imo they're ugly. i dont like the pattern on the trim inserts

Option 2
Evo 1 suede rears. Pros: suede matches the fronts, and looks shtload better than GSR trim inserts Cons: the black outside trim doesnt match the front, though it will match the door trims and my roof lining (retrimmed that black previously)
This will cost about $200 shipped to me in Syd from VIC

Option 3
Evo 3 rear seats. Pros: Best match to the front seats. Cons: higher cost ($265 shipped to my door), VERY HARD TO FIND except for this pair from CVAP which has two large cig. burns. Note I dont want to spend money repairing the seats so if i got these id have to live with them

what would you's do?

unless you have the EVO 2 or 3 door trims, id go with the EVO1 rears, as the black bits they have on them will match your black GSR door trims. :)

thanks man, thats the answer i was hoping people would say

but open to many others opinions... keep em coming - cmon guys

Keep the GSR rear with split fold down and have the centre grey bits recovered in grey suede/fabric to match your fronts as it would cost less than $200 easy and would be brand new :D . That's better than spending that sort of money for used EVO 1 rear seats. Split fold is best to have anyway

Why don't you just pick the most comfortable/best quality ones and get all the seats retrimmed the same? That's my plan when I eventually get around to some Recaros. I know of two awesome trimmers in Moorabin if you're interested, or there was a thread on here not so long ago with a heap of trimmers recommended.

i have evo 1 front and rear seats that im thinking of getting rid

going to use the car for track only

let me know if ur interested we can work somethin out

Shop around :) This retrim included a full rear seat retrimmed in new black fabric and dove grey suede (the pics come out pretty light grey but they are a nice pale grey colour a little lighter than EVO 1 suede). The side pods also got new black fabric; front Cobra sidewinder seats got some new grey suede inserts; the rear trims were recovered in new black vinyl and had the grey suede inserts put in as did the front door trims. The fold down armrest in the back got a couple of cup holders in it for the kiddies as well (I couldnt get my hands on a plastic 2002 Magna cup holder in time before the trim but oh wells, come out good anyway and can always add one later) 8) For an added touch the guy moulded the rear seat design to match the front seats (raised section between the legs) and changed the foam for a more comfortable sit. All up this only cost me $990 so I am very happy as I'm not really someone who's into lavish and expensive interiors, just something practical and subtle. Another place that is more well known for car retrimming around here quoted me $2500 for exactly the same thing!. I flipped through the exact same fabric and colour charts at both places, and they both use the exact same brand of materials so go figure :D The seats have never been sat in yet so the fabric would obviously settle and unwrinkle a bit when they start to get used :)

I reckon go and get a price somewhere for retrimming the inserts (and maybe seats) all round so they all match, as it could end up being quite affordable :)

I have the E1 front recaro's with GSR rears, my thought is that "other" people, as in those that are not familier with the car will see the non matching trims and say to them selves "cool look at that he has got nice aftermarket seats in the front". Also even tho you may never use the feature a con to having Evo seats in your GSR is that you loose the split fold rear, the week after you dont have it any more you will buy somthing and wish you had it!

I like the E1 seats better than the E3, the black just looks better and like you say the trim inserts are a hell of a lot better than he standard GSR pattern, which really is the only thing wrong with the GSR colours in my opinion

AdamD: most comfortable doesn't bother me because im never gonna sit in them ;) Just want it to match and look half decent

pad4g63: PM sent regarding your rears. It would be easier to pick up from Syd instead of having them shipped from melb.

CLuTZ: LOL - that is all...

EVO-00X:
I rang two trimmers yesterday afternoon and they gave around the same price estimate. To retrim the middle insert bits only, they both quoted around $300 for grey velour and around $500 for grey suede.
No doubt a retrim would be the ultimate and couldnt agree more, but second hand evo seats dont bother me, as the ones in the pics for sale look like theyre in good nick, and besides my SR3s look used anyway so itll match
by the way thanks for postin up the pics - nice seats man

Also to all the guys lookin out for me saying to keep fold-down seats...thanks. But im a bit of a ricer - i got a massive sub/box in the boot, also over the last 5 1/2 years ive owned the car i have not folded my seat down once :)

And thanks to everyone else for the opinions - looks like evo 1 seats are the money

$500 just for suede rear inserts? you sure you didnt get the quote from the guy qho quoted me $2500??

Am going through the same delema.
I have the Evo 1 front seats withe suede in the and the rear one with suide in them

I dont like the rear seat cause it doesnt fold down like the GSR one doe.
So i am currently getting the old fadded Gsr rear seat retrimed with the Evo 1 sude inserts put in them.

Much better looking IMO
