Hey

Anyone use an Optima or Optima style gel battery in their HSGR? Or does anyone have any experience with these batteries?

When I was into the massive stereo in your car phase a few years ago, I remember these were a must have item.

At the end of the day, are they worth the money over standard batteries?

hey man, i know a person using it for their evo6 an man that battery can last awhile 12hours straight pumping and they were running everything of an alpine, so if your into the soundsystem i guess its worth it...

I run one, or will be as of next week. Great batteries! Can't fault them really.

They last a long time, can be mounted any which way you want, just depends if you can justify $500

I run an Optima D34 Yellow Top, its been going strong for 3years now.
Once I left my lights on for well over 8hours, went back, and it wouldnt crank over. Left the car overnight, went back the next morning and it cranked over.
I run a big system too, 2200watt rms.
Definitely worth the $350 I spent for it.

Been using this for over 2 years

Zero issues with charging, running, or leaving parked up.

I was using an Optima D34 battery for 6 months then it fugged up, 1 of the cells i was told so i tossed it in the recycle bin.... i dunno if it was a fault from the manufacturer or something

I might look for 1 of those Pulse batteries, JB where do u pick them up from?

AFAIK, autobarn no longer deal with Pulse anymore. I was looking to get the PHB400 over two years ago now and Autobarn were phasing out the Pulse batteries and bringing in Optima from memory.

That said, i got an Odyssey PC680 via special order through Autobarn..

I need something roughly the same size as the D34, Odyssey make the PC1230 or the PC1500 but are around $150 more than the Optima batteries :( might just get an Optima again

Autboarn still deals with Pulse it just depends if it's a code B, C or D on the systems.

B = Base
C = Core
D = Do Not Order

If you're unsure, ask a staff member to check it up in GLOBAL and see if it's available.

AFAIK optima had a bad batch of batteries for a few years (specificly the D34's)

I had one in my old car for ~6 years without a fault...

Then several of my mates bought them for their cars (after seeing mine last so long) and had them fail within 6 months. Optima didn't even question the claim and just replaced them. But for some of them they failed a 2nd and 3rd time...

I got a VERY good deal on soundstream branded battery (rebadged odyessy) and it's been going great for 2 years now (and i've run it flat a few times with lights left on :S). It fitted nicely into the factory tray also ;)

Unfortunately my D34 was purchased under the books so i didnt get a reciept :( otherwise i would have sent it back to manufacturer

The guys who tested my battery is an Optima dealer

i brought a D34 from battery world, had it replaced once under warranty, which is no questions asked 3 years. was fairly cheap for a retail place.

once thing with them. never, ever, ever, ever let them go 100% flat.

oh, they are fucking heavy.
