OverBoost???

hi guys,
unleashed my boost controller, turned the boost up quite a bit, but not full
definitely felt the difference, after first couple of thrusts,
then after bout 4 times afta that when i floored it i got a whinning sound,nothing hapnd, then the turbo kicked in a bit later.....
im thinking i may have put too much boost?
anyone else had this problem?

how much later does the turbo spool at now?

does it do it consistently or was it just a one off?

what type of whining? the normal induction noise?

yeh it was consistant, most of the time this is what was happening,
now that the boost is down though is a different story.
the whine was like a mechanical whine,
didnt sound healthy at all.
no idea about how much boost i was running, dunno how to operate my turbo timer/boost controller yet :?

Turn the boost down until you have a real boost gauge in there.

Rebuilding motors can get very expensive!

don't you have a boost gauge in your car?..

running a manual boost gauge + no boost gauge wouldn't be good at all..

yes ive got a boost gauge,
it was going into the red area, when i floored it
i think something around 1.2-1.5 bar or kg/psi or something

is your fuel system and ecu standard?

i wouldn't run 1.2-1.5 bar unless you feel like rebuilding your motor.

so there's no sign of the whine now?

i take it this means i put chucked in too much boost :shock:
yeh everythings stock, but motor has been rebuilt though.
nah when i turned the boost down, no whining at all.....
no one else has had this problem?
u guys probly arent dumb enough to turn ur boost up so high then i guess lol!

Thats how my first turbo sounded after it shat itself
