Hey guys my Evo 3 is begining to look a little tired mainly due to the plastic parts loosing their paint(chipping back to black). Anybody had this kind of touch up work done?

Get a semi fine paper... 600-800, sand it back ever so slightly. Get a plastic primer (A proper one from an autopaint shop), and then allow 12 hours for the primer to dry, then paint as per any other panel. You can gas it from a spraygun or use a spraycan. As usual, light even coats. And you'll need about 4-6 to get proper coverage if they're properly light coats.

Getting runs while painting plastic is heaps easier than getting it when painting metal.

Good luck. White isn't a great colour, it'll yellow with time

wet n dry sand paper works best for plastic makes it smooth as a baby's bum. just sand it with water. plastic primer first to make 2pac primer stick, sand it then final coat with a clear coat.

depending if your using lacquer or 2pac for final coat, slowly build up the lacquer on it with light coat to make a heavy one as to 2pac.

I just done my front grill, windscreen wipers, edging/surround around windows, it came out very well, i used matt black for everything and ebony black for front grill. if you are handy with spraying and its only bits and pieces like i did then a few coats would do it.
im planning on doing door surrounds soon, fun fun fun:)

Plastic primer is designed to fill in all the imperfections, you don't need to sand it smooth. Just rough it up so the paint sticks and the glossy shit comes off the plastic which is designed to stop staining (therefore stop anything sticking to it)

i dont know what plastic primer u talkin bout but its got no balls what so ever its like water and fills in absolutly nothing......and if u got paint fallin off a plastic panel then its not sticking properly! best to get a sander with 240-180 grit and sand the flaky paint off till it feathers out and hi-fill it.......then paint it.....ull find that sanding the plastic with that grit will let the primer stik anyways(no need for plastic primer)....also if u paint over a paint egde thats rubbed through raw plastic, it will react with the paint ur using........have fun

i agree the paint is not sticking properly, but there is better way you can strip the paint off with aerosol spray stripper design for plastics ,you have to do the hole bar you might need 2 cans .
take the bar off the car before you spray the stripper .once you spray the stipper paint will start to bubble with a scraper just remove the paint and if theres any little bit left just use a red Scotchpad with water then once its all removed get some thinners
And wipe the bar with it, then you will need plastic primer its specially made for plastics.
This primer has no color its clear and you don't need thinners or (hardener)activator just open the can
Put it in the spray gun and spray all you need is 1.1/2 coats then let it dry for 5min then put your color white in the gun and spray your bar the best way for you to buy this paint materials go to a panelshop and ask
For 200ml of plastic primer any thing else you can buy at any auto store it would be best if you spray acrylic white cause you might get runs with 2pack good luck
