I spent a day going to that part of KL to try and find early evo parts. I just paid a taxi driver to drive me round.

However, there are hardly any early evo parts any more. Especially not new. There was only one shop that was wrecking early evos. I had a look through what they had. Most of it was in really poor condition. Ie needed to be resprayed or fixed. The guy who owned the shop said that early evos were too expensive in Japan for them to be able to wreck them profitably any more. He said that kids in KL didn't want old Protons/evos, they wanted newer cars, so he was shifting to suit.

I reckon the best place for parts is likely to be NZ these days.

i also heard a rumor that the 2l swap is illegal for them now aswell. i have noticed a decline in the advertising of earlier proton parts.

Yeah it was a real shame as I was hoping to uncover the secret stash of early Evo parts!

Only problem with NZ is I think a lot of the cars have been trashed.

Australia may be the sweet spot world wide as they were fairly rare and expensive, so people tended to look after their cars. In the UK they're worth nothing and in Japan there were a lot used in the snow/rust issues.
