hey guys. some of u may know, but im about to drop a 7 bolt 4g63 DOHC-T into the cordi. im doing a sedate rebuild on it for starters, just rings, bearings and a 2 layer metal headgasket (if pistons are rooted i will go for forged items)

just need to know what places you have dealt with or heard good things about(price and quality), either in adelaide or interstate.

good quality bearings (main and conrod)
good quality rings
2 layer metal headgasket (no more than 1.6 mm thickness)
forged pistons
forged conrods
vernier cam gears

cheers for anything,
Jon

Your worst enemy is going to be crankwalk. I hope you're aware of this.

Clevite bearings seem to be the ace as far as I can tell from what people say here and on many other forums. They are $$ tho.

What's your budget?

I mean we can recommend things but really, how much cash do you have to spend on parts?

....

Anyone want to give some pointers on how to guard against crankwalk? I have no idea.

good quality bearings (main and conrod)
-(i have some standard sized ones for sale, ACL brand... never used, just fitted but changed parts therefor needed different bearings etc)

good quality rings
-to suit standard pistons right?... total seal? i can get you some perfect seal rings, exactly the same as the total seal rings, just aussie branded

2 layer metal headgasket (no more than 1.6 mm thickness)

budget of 1k for good quality parts. all standard sizes needed. baz, unless those bearings are to suit 7 bolt, i dont see how they will fit, surely the crank has different characterisitcs.

I heard you want to put as little pressure on the thrust bearings as possible.

IE never start your car with the clutch in because the oil hasn't got to it yet, dont leave your foot on the clutch at the lights...

ok, got every seal, gaskets excl head, t/belt and balance shaft belt from work. all genuine for $200. new water pump on the way.
all the part numbers for the RVR are the same as the 2.0ltr galant non turbo.
still have to find bearings and rings, but ill wait till its stripped to see if i need oversize or not. and gotta find a good headgasket.

ooooooops

Parking at the lights in neutral is A) Stupid b) Unsafe.

A) When the lights go green, more often than not you will forget to put it into first. Also it's extra wear on the clutch to engage/disengage twice rather than engaging and staying engaged.

b) If you're not in gear and you get hit up the ass, you'll go flying across the intersection. If you're in 1st, you'll let your foot off the clutch in suprise and your car will stop before it gets into the line of traffic flow. Not to mention this -is- a Victorian road law. Disengaging a drive gear at traffic lights is a demerit points offense (I dont' see how they manage to enforce it tho)
