Pic Request~! JDM Dishy wheels on a VR4

Hey guys, just wanting some insperation as to what to make my future vr4 look like,

I was thinking, low offset dish-tastic wheels with a nice stretch tyre, lip spoilers twin exhaust tips (2.1/2 inch?)

Something very jdm.. nice and simple but effective

and i realise there's no dish here i'm just posting pics. and -1 for the wing.

going for dish will be hard though.. offset is hard to get right on a vr4 and with dish it's harder again. you really don't have that many options for wheels unless you want to buy crap and usually when you do that the offset is wrong still.

unless you go overfenders..

personally if i was building a vr4 up now i'd be doing a 5 stud swap and chucking evo wheels on it

Sorry to ask a dumb question but, whats the go with low/positive offsets, I realise that the VR4 has to have + offsets, but what the exact reason they cannot fit low offsets? 4wd have something to do with it I suppose?

It's all about what fits. Ideally you want as much grip on the ground as possible, so most guys run an 8-9" wheel. When you run something that size you need to have an offset around the +35.. The lower the offset, the more they will stick out the guards.

If you want to fit lower offset wheels you will need to lip the guards, pump the guards, bash the guards with a hammer, modify the guards with more metal or fit overfenders, of course depending on what tyres you run and how much camber you run too.

Ideally if you could find the right wheels, you'd get something in a slighly lower offset for the front wheels as the guards have more space in there.

If you wanted, you could run a 6" wide wheel and probably a +15 or something, but what's the point spending money on new wheels and getting less grip than stock?

Nothing to do with the 4wd, just the suspension.

With a 9" wide rim any MORE than +30 and it will hit the struts in the front, and the trailing arms in the rear.
Even so they will stick out of the guards - about 2" at the front depending how much camber you run. They'll stick out slightly less at the rear, again depending on the camber.

Offset is the distance from the centre line of the wheel to the hub mounting face. So the ideal number changes depending on the width of the rim.

My car in that pic is 9 @+30..in the rear..juuuuust fits

It was actually +39, but with about 4-5mm or so notched from the control arms,so approx 30, and it needed camber at that height..but it works..
