Hey,

I just picked up a pod filter and adapter kit for my GSR Evo 1. After a lot of fiddling around I finally squeezed it in. When I rev the engine in neutral to about 4000rpm I get some misfiring and the turbo light comes on in the instrument cluster. The idle also seems a bit lumpier. Was perfect with the airbox.

It's got an Evo 1 609 AFM as well.

It's basically like a solid rectangular version of the metal one.

I also got the other one. Currently using the rectangular one. It seems to cover some of the AFM inlets. The problem is, if I use the black one, I can only fit a really small filter because a normal sized one will fit the fuse box. Not moving the battery... Does anybody use the black plastic adapter successfully on their Evo engine? What pod do you use with it?

Simple, get rid of the pod and get a good panel, your just going to be sucking hot air anyways and it will be safer defect wise

I see you've got one according to your sig. Had a K&N panel filter in there already. Got a pic of your setup?

Yeah mine came with the car, the only advantage IMO is it makes a pretty nice noise. I'm thinking about going panel but i can't seem to find an apexi panel to fit the stock box?

I've got a pic here http://4gtuner.com/site/showthread.php?t=7554 but its the 4g93 engine not the 63

Very nice! Where'd you get that adapter?

I haven't seen the Apexi but you could probably find one on Ebay ... K&N panel filter in mine, they cost around $100.

both of those adapters you have bought are at the low $$ range of the market for a very good reason, HKS and Apexi ones are a very well designed kit work extreamly well and are a quality product...you pay for what you get!

I used to have a K&N in mine, whats the deal with them are they reusable or something? I am running a repco special at the moment and cant say I have really noticed any difference.

Where do I get some of these high $$ range ones you speak of John?

K&N will filter better = healther engine

The problem I've got is the little plastic air divider thing that screws on to the AFM. Car runs like shit without it. Turbo light comes on, black smoke, misfire in the upper rev range. I need something that fits over the plastic doover and also leaves space for a filter...

you obviously got the wrong adapter mate.
should fit perfectly on the afm.
where did u get it from?

I got both of them from Autobarn. But I've since returned them. It looks like the engine won't operate properly without the plastic air directional thing attached...

ahh ok.
have a look at some of the custom air intake pipes available.
they come with the right adaptors, the ones from the eclipses fit too.
check out ebay, their pretty good bang for buck.

Ah yes they are reusable!! Get a cleaning kit and wash it, let it dry then reoil it.

The amount of PPl that have a K 'n' N filter on there car I would say no.
Also since when has oiled filter been bad for WRX's?

I used to run a huge K&N pod filter which was used to house my AFM before the Microtech came along. There shouldn't be any real dramas setting this or a similar system up....
